Trouble Shooting Steps:
1) In the event that you hear a clicking noise when the unit rotates, check to make sure that it is not the watch that is making the noise because it is loose on the holder. If the watch is loose, try placing a small piece of cloth between the holder and the watch to reduce the empty space which will prevent your watch from sliding.
2) This unit has a built in timer. This time can only be reset if the unit is unplugged and plugged back in. If the unit is in rest mode and you switch the setting to a different mode, it will still remain in the rest mode until it compete the rest mode. The only way to reset the timer is to unplug the unit.
3) If your watch does not appear to be keeping time on the winder, try using a different setting. Not all watches will work on all settings so it is important to find the right setting for you. Start with setting A and work your way down until you find a setting that works for you. The rule of thumb is that you want to use the lowest setting (the lowest setting is A) possible that will keep your watch wound.

This is a quality product, don't let the price and the construction materials fool you into thinking that it's cheap and will break, or stop working quickly, soon after you get it. This is what can happen with inferior winders, but I want to assure everyone who read my review that the motors and drive mechanism, the timers and adjustment pots, and the electronics that run the whole show are first rate, just as nice as a winder that is made of expensive woods or finished lavishly, commanding a couple hundred $$'s price tag in today's market. You don't have to spend a couple hundred $$'s to get a quality winder, because it's this one right here!

The only caveat to using the winder is to be careful with larger and heavier watches, that would be Rolex in the full size, any of the knock-offs from Steinhausen or Stauer with the big, stainless steel bodies and heavy bands, watches that weigh more than 3 ounces is a good gauge of what a heavy watch is. The winder comes with a large top insert to the barrel mechanism, the thing you attach your watch to before you insert it into the watch winder and hear the "click" of success, successful and proper watch mounting in the winder. Those large top inserts are the thing to use for large, heavy watches without fail, or the heavy watch will eventually "droop" off the winder barrel mechanism, and it *can* contact the front of the winder and literally OPEN THE DOOR and drop off the perch it's on onto the floor, and potentially damaging the watch and winder both.

The winder can be damaged when this happens by getting hung-up in a sequence it's working and/or the watch barrel mounting mechanism can get stuck inside the winder and grind the thing to a halt, with the motors turning on their clutch as they try to rotate without any success.

For the price, this is the best deal going. One would have difficulty finding a comparable winder at the local jewelry or watch repair shop at this price point. I have two of these winders and they have been flawless in their performance. I use them to keep my Omega Speedmaster, Tag Heuer Monaco, Invicta Pro Diver and an off-brand (China Movement) Rousseau. They have the same features and electrics as some of the more costly winders; the key differences being the polystyrene casing used in this unit vice hand made woods, veneers fabrics and leathers found on luxury end models. For the budget minded, this is the way to go.

The winder does exactly what it's supposed to do, wind watches. I have a Yellow Mako Diver and a large face Red Line, the holder securely holds them both. You have the option to run either direction exclusively, or alternate directions between cycles, and it runs the following programs:

    A: 33 seconds on, 12 minutes off - 342 Turns Per Day
    B: 10 minutes on, 90 minutes off - 864 TPD
    C: 30 minutes on, 3 hours off - 1080 TPD
    D: 1 hour on, 3 hours off - 2160 TPD

Both watch holders run the same program, mostly. The bottom winder runs just a little slower than the top on mine. I haven't really counted, but it seems to be something like 1 revolution slower out of every 25. The door has a magnetic catch, a nice feature, but does not disengage the motor when open. The power switch is on the back of the unit, so I have to blindly reach for it, or turn the whole unit around. A less than ideal solution, the switch should be up front, or the door should cut power to the motor. The motor is very quiet, so running it in the bedroom would not be an issue. I'm not sure I would trust the build quality to the moisture in a bathroom. I'm not sure that the watch mounts would hold anything heavier than my Mako, but for a mid-weight dive watch or lighter, this is a good fit.

I finally killed it. After years of faithful service, I accidentally plugged it into a 12v router power supply instead of the 4v brick it came with. So I opened it up and found a surprisingly well built and very simple setup. For those that are wondering, it is actually two motors, belt driven to a transmission that turns the watches. The electronics package is just a tiny ic board and all the cables are socketed instead of soldered. I'll buy a replacement and keep this one for plug and play parts. Still happy with the purchase.

I have several automatic watches and needed a watch winder without breaking the bank, and this item fits the bill. Pretty simple setup and operation, just mount two watches and turn it on. You can set the winding duration from 33 seconds to 1 hour as well as setting the watch rotation to clockwise, random, or counter clockwise. It is extremely quite, you can't hear it when it is rotating the watches. It is made of plastic, so not as nice looking as the more expensive winders made of wood, but it does the job. I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Bought two units recently to wind four self-winding watches: Rolex; Eterna-matic; Breitling; and Longines. As reviewed by others, the unit is very quiet. You can hear a faint hissing sound -- similar to what you may hear from a radio when not in tune -- when you put your ear close to the unit. I keep two units in my bedroom but yet to be bothered by them. Appearance-wise, it is not that bad looking; looks like a run-of-the-mill sound system. So far both units are working well and keeping my watches wound.
