4.0 out of 5 stars The best of the Dungeon Tiles yet available
I've purchased all of the dungeon tile sets and this is my favorite one so far. Unlike the underdark set, this set contains a lot of nice big rooms - something I really need for a good encounter. It also contains far fewer small pieces - pieces I rarely use.

1.0 out of 5 stars Greedy sellers
The tiles are very nice for gaming but they were intended as a gaming aide tool. They are just cardboard with printed pictures and a grid for gaming. Great tool at $9.99 or less, but it just becomes a collector's item for $20 or more dollars. Too many greedy sellers have made these not worth having for a gaming aide. Buy the new sets or get battle mats for your games...

4.0 out of 5 stars The best of the Dungeon Tiles yet available, February 3, 2008

This review is from: Dire Tombs: Dungeon Tiles (Dungeons & Dragons Accessories) (Bk. 6) (Board book)
I've purchased all of the dungeon tile sets and this is my favorite one so far. Unlike the underdark set, this set contains a lot of nice big rooms - something I really need for a good encounter. It also contains far fewer small pieces - pieces I rarely use.

Because the color of these tiles are unique, you may want to purchase more than one set. They won't work too well with the other sets so you'll want plenty of pieces to build whatever dungeon you want.

The best way I have found to use these tiles is with a large poster board and some poster sticky putty. Sit down at a nice big table, lay out your dungeon on the poster board, and when you have it where you like it, use the putty to stick it to the board. Change it around whenever you wish and be sure it won't shift on you while you're actually playing.

Within a day I had a nice dungeon built and an entire scenario written around an ancient tomb cracked open by a vile snake cult. I can't wait to play it out.

After figuring out my poster board trick, I'm now a lot happier with dungeon tiles than I was previously. I recommend the purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great DMing tool, January 9, 2008

This is the third set of Dungeon Tiles I've gotten and this is my favorite one so far. While the other tile sets I've seen are fairly generic in terms of dungeon dressing, this one throws in things like skeletons, mummies and coffins. Good for a quick dungeon crawl you throw together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what the DM ordered, January 2, 2008
This review is from: Dire Tombs: Dungeon Tiles (Dungeons & Dragons Accessories) (Bk. 6) (Board book)
Dire Tombs is a great addition to a DM's arsenal of props and tools for the tabletop D&D game. If you liked the other tiles in this series you will enjoy and make great use of these.

Of particular note: This set is a different color than all the previous grey stone colored tiles. These are a desert tan kind of color offering an exploring the pyramid kind of feel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice work but does not match the rest of the tile sets, April 26, 2008
This review is from: Dire Tombs: Dungeon Tiles (Dungeons & Dragons Accessories) (Bk. 6) (Board book)
This could very well be my favorate of all the dungeon Tiles sets released to date. However it does suffer from the fact that it is a different color then most of the rest of the sets (DT1, 2, 3 and 7)
Depending on what you are looking for this could be a good thing if you want to give the impression that this area is a slight change of pace from the regular look of your dungeons.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Unique Twist, May 5, 2009

As a DM I have to work hard to keep things fresh and unpredictable. If players see too much of the same thing the game becomes boring and it falls apart. That's where these tiles come in. They are unique and when a player sees them they don't know what too expect. This dungeon doesn't share anything in common with the ones I've seen. That makes it a great dungeon to throw into the mix when players think they've seen them all.

This set is perfect for any catacomb/tomb type dungeon crawl. There is a nice mix of large and mid-sized rooms with appropriate accessory tiles to use around the map allowing for the creation of unique areas to explore. The floor coloring is a yellowish tone instead of the standard slate or gray colors of the other sets, but works well on its own.

As with all of this series, the tiles are a nice thick board and will likely last many years if not abused. This set shows its grid in the floor tiles instead of using + marks as other sets do. I personally prefer this method as it is much easier to tell where the player/npc/enemy is at.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very useful product, December 24, 2008
This review is from: Dire Tombs: Dungeon Tiles (Dungeons & Dragons Accessories) (Bk. 6) (Board book)
Dire Tombs is extremely useful, especially when running a 4e D&D campaign since 4e relies so heavily on miniatures. Since I started using these tiles (and others in other sets) I have cut the setup time for the encounters I run by half. I no longer have to have everyone pause while I draw on the battlemat. Plus these tiles are durable and look good. I would definitely recommend it.

Solid construction and good lamination. Product should last for years of use, barring unforseen beverage spill accidents. Excellent art without being distracting. I appreciate how well the different sets work well with each other.

I have found this to be a very well put together game accessory. The tiles are of high quality; good artwork, nice and sturdy. A welcome addition to a D&D game.

4.0 out of 5 stars D&D tiles review, July 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dire Tombs: Dungeon Tiles (Dungeons & Dragons Accessories) (Bk. 6) (Board book)
These tiles are really good if you want a simple method to place scenery into a game that has miniatures, and not just D&D games. This set in particular can be configured very well or matches up with the Tower or Wilderness sets better than I imagined. Unfortunately the set arrived in a very damaged package and water damage occurred, so I needed to throw out some of the tiles and replace them by purchasing another set.
