I thought this was definitely an interesting idea, but not one of the best books Stephanie Tyler has written. Dire Warning stuffed a huge amount of information into a small space. I can definitely understand that - it's a brand new series and Ms. Tyler was trying to convey all the background of her new universe. Unfortunately, all the information left little space for the characters. I didn't feel like I really knew any of the characters by the end of the story. It also felt rushed, as if the publisher had called the author 2/6 and said "Hey, we need you to publish something tomorrow". If this was my first introduction to Stephanie Tyler, I'd probably walk away from any future books. Because it's not the first book of hers that I've read, I have faith that Dire Needs will fulfill the promise that was at the basis of Dire Warning.

In this prequel book to Stephanie's new series - we get to meet most of the 6 Dires Wolves. The Alpha Leader Rifter, and Vice, Jinx and Stray along with a couple of Weres they have taken in Cyd and Cain.

There has been a murder of a human woman named Paula and its being called a werewolf attack. Rifter and the guys know this isnt the truth and go into clean up mode to figure out the truth and destroy any evidence the humans may have.

Each Dire has a special gift. Jinx's is he see's ghost. He is able to see Paula's ghost but she isnt speaking to him. Rifter and Jinx find out that Paula worked for a guy named Bill who claims he all knowledgeable in the paranormal. They then convince him he needs there help as body guards to get close to him to find a tape he says he has that proves a werewolf killed Paula.

At the institute they meet Marley who can really see ghost and realize Bill is a total fraud. They finally figure out what really happened to Paula..

This was a very good prequel book as it gave us alot of background information on the Dire Wolves, we got to know a little about each of the guys in the pack and I am thinking maybe even a future heroine.

I am looking forward to Rifter's book that comes out next month.

It is the Dire Wolves duty to keep werewolves in line, and to protect humans from their unruly werewolf 'cousins'. So when a human woman is found murdered and a the leader of a 'paranormal research center' claims that she was murdered by a werewolf and that there is a tape that proves such creatures really exist, the Dires must step in to find the killer as well as making sure that the tape doesn't see the light of day and 'out' the existence of the hidden paranormal world.

Dire Warning was a challenge to get into at the start. There were a zillion bad boy alphas characters with oddball names like Reiver, Jinx, Vice, Stray, Cyd - and each had a Brother Wolf which was their wolf side as well so it was hard to keep everyone straight. Plus, there was also a fair amount of world building to absorb with Dire Wolves, their history, Werewolves, other shape shifters, and ghosts, but even with all of that the author seems to have only scratched the surface of her world.

Overall, I did end up enjoying the hunt for the killer and the interactions between the Dires and the Weres. I was a little surprised that there wasn't really any romance in this warmup to Stephanie Tyler's new Eternal Wolf Clan series. Since Tyler writes romantic supsense, I was expecting that her new shape shifter series would be Paranormal romantic suspense. But it probably was a good thing that she didn't try to squeeze a quicky romance into this short, and instead saved it for the first book which definitely looks to be a romance from a quick skim of the teaser for Dire Needs: A Novel of the Eternal Wolf Clan included at the end. Dire Needs will be out in March, with another book, Dire Wants: A Novel of the Eternal Wolf Clan, to follow in the Fall.

i really liked the world she built and the characters she created. i'm so torn about this series. i've read the novella and first book. the author throws so many people and information at you as if you should know what was going on. it is very confusing and frustrating. while i would love to know more about the Dire Wolves and the women they meet and love, i don't know that i will buy another one of this series. my head kind of hurt reading these because she would just start talking about Rifter and Rogue getting kidnapped without us knowing anything leading up to it. she would talk about Sebastien like we should know who he is when he had never been mentioned before. very frustrating

Loved these series. Hope we get more of these. They were very good, had humor and loved them so much that I could not put them down for long. Hope to have more to read of these.

Ms. Tyler writes exceptional stories that hold your attention and leaving wanting more. This is a continued story line kinda. Characters from previous books mentioned and I'm going to go back and reread the other series but this story was complete and understandable leading into the next of the series. Enjoy!

I enjoyed all the books in this series. The mysteries are will thought out, and the characters are easy to get to know. Lots of action throughout the stories.
