Enables H20 and HR20 receivers to receive upcoming HD programming.
DIRECTV sup-2400 b band converter b band converter (BBC) module. for KA-lo band up conversion must be installed on the receiver. It has a threaded male F connector, and should be connected to the Satellite In coaxial jack on the back of the receiver. The converter also has a female coaxial input to receive the signal from the satellite dish. This converter up-converts the satellite signal transmitted in the Ka-band (250-750 MHz) into a 1650-2150 MHz usable signal.

Purchased as I do not have a SWM (single wire module) setup and ordered a new HR24-500 receiver / recorder. Depending on your satellite setup and receiver model, you may require a B-Band converter to receive HD signals from all the satellites.
The item works as expected and the model received was the newer model (smaller version) than shown in the picture.

Why would someone buy these b-band converters when all you have to do is call 1-800-directv and ask for a few. They will ship them fedex to you for FREEEE!

I bought two of these. They are the newer style ones and not what was pictured in advertisement. The one pictured is the original looking one from a few years back. Units work good. Only reason to buy one of these is if you just bought an HR24 HD DVR and you do not have a SWM system either by having a SWM lnb or a SWM multiswitch. All other HD DVR's shipped with BBC's.
Anyhow, bottom line these are inexpensive and a good deal. You will need to purchase 2 of them for the HR24 if you wish to use 2 tuners.

Why would you purchase one of these? They come for free with the receivers that need them. The Newer receivers have been manufactured so they do not need or use them. Read more
