BEWARE OF DTV Shell Game. When you purchase a DTV box from anywhere the box is the property of DTV. Along with this your contract will be extened for 1 to 2 years. Once again if you buy a DTV box from best buy, online retailer, amazon, your parents or your next door neighbor it is the property of DTV and must be returned to them when you cancel your service or you must pay a fee to DTV. RIP-OFF BEWARE

The receiver works fine and was shipped promptly. I had it activated by Direct TV (no charge), but when I got my first bill I found that this receiver had been added to my bill with a $5 a month charge for a "leased receiver". When I called Direct TV they said all receivers sold by someone other than Direct TV are considered leased and have a $5 a month charge. The only way to avoid that charge is to buy a receiver from a private party or from Direct TV as a purchase.
So...what looked like a great buy does have it's downside.

Beware
When purchasing this item make sure owner is not pass due on direct TV account. . Direct TV won't activate.

You will lose your money, this is a scam.
We were customers with DirecTV for just over two years. Early on we purchased two used HD DVR units, one from a fellow on Ebay, the other from some company, NOT DirecTV. Read more

Not 1080, not even 720p
Directv standard receivers provide only 480p, even on your 1080p TV. This information does not appear anywhere on the Directv paperwork or on their website.
