This remote is an excellent replacement for the standard peanut shaped DirecTv remote control. I am using it to control my Hughes HD TiVo DirecTv receiver, A Sony HD 42" LCD TV, a Sony STRDa5ES DTS surround sound home theater receiver and a Sony 400 disc DVD changer. This one remote allows me to control all of these devises without a complicated macro monster screen and I can operate everything in the dark because of the easily identified (by feel)buttons on the remote. The buttons have a very solid feel but it may take a day or so to re-orient your fingers to the new locations compared with the pld DirecTV peanut remote.
I do not like touch screen remotes because of the light they emit and the tediousness of needing to directly look at the remote, identify the touch screen button and then touch it, and then re-focus on the television screen. With a simple remote like this you can just do it all by feel.
The RC-23 remote is solid in your hand, lays flat on your side or coffee table and seems less apt to break in a fall than the original DirectTv Peanut remote. I would recommend this as a worthwhile replacement if your peanut remote is not performing as it once did after a few drops or spills.

My wife needed a remote for her night stand so we could both control the Direct Tv receiver. It is an exact copy in every way of the original and works great. I thought this was a great investment.

This is the remote that DirecTV provides with their service. It works... It works sometimes very slowly. It is set up mainly to work with DirecTV - If you don't have DirecTV - Get another remote.

As advertised, this remote control works on even the oldest DirecTV boxes. The hardest part is matching the code of the tv box. This will also control your TV and two more of your A/V boxes.

About product "DirecTV RC65":-
RC65 (which I received instead of RC23) is great. However obviously it will not support everything that RC23 would. If you need RC65; instead of purchasing it from DirecTv, purchase it from some other vendor from Amazon.com and save.

Awesome remote! Exactly the one I need to replace our old one that suddenly decided to not change the channel whenever it felt like it. It is even better than our old one because now the off button turns off both the TV and the directv. Thank you!!! A++++ product.

Factory Quality on this replacement. Exact same as the one you get when you first sign up for DirecTv. Definitely recommend for all those lost remote situations.

We needed it to replace the one from the Sat. company and they charge you as much as $50 if you don't turn one back in! Saved us $45 doing it this way!!

We bought this as a replacement for a lost remote provided by DirecTV...right before we found the other one. This was exactly the same remote but with updated codes. Now we can adjust the volume without using two remotes. Easy to program...I guess. My husband was able to figure it out. :)

I bought a new remote because I needed a "new" remote. This thing is used, and broken. If you're looking for a new remote, shop somewhere else.
