This setup had onboard relays for power door locks. Ignore the negative reviews regarding the installation instructions. These units are meant to be installed by a professional or people with some knowledge of electrical circuits. I simply went online and did some research and figured out that circuits need to be complete. Ground the black, a lock wire and a unlock wire and connect the fused yellow wire and the 2 fused purple wires to a constant 12v wire and you have keyless entry.

This unit came highly recommended by several people on the auto forum that
I joined after a recent used car purchase. The only negative thing that was
mentioned by all of them, and that I whole-heartedly agree with, is that
the installation instructions are barely adequate....but if you have the
schematic for your car, it can be readily acomplished. Having said that,
the unit is quite full-featured and will control a variety of functions
besides simply locking/unlocking the car, such as engine-disabling and
the like. There are other similar devices that also offer similar features
but I was looking for something that would be reliable and long-lived and
the members of the forum spoke from years of experience with this manufacturer
and model, so I made a leap of faith and picked it up and so far I am not
disappointed. I also got the unit for half the best price I was able find
and received it within a few days, so that was further incentive.

I purchased this to go in a car I drive back and forth to work. If you need a simple lock/unlock keyless entry this is well worth the price. The installation instructions are not the best in my opinion but can be figured out by going to 12volt.com and doing a search of the system and it will make things much easier. Some common installation knowledge is required but with a little patience and time it can be done.

For a basic keyless entry this is a solid unit. Installation was easy with all of the information online and a repair manual with electrical schematics.

I'm giving this product 1 stars because the instructions suck. Yeah, I'm basing this 1 star on lack of adequate instructions. I spent 3 days trying to understand how to get this thing to work I almost sent it back. I don't care if it's made for profesionals. If it's made for profesionals then don't sell it to end consumers. There are only a certain amount of wires that have specific tasks. It's not like we are hooking up wires to a rocket ship. It shouldn't be rocket science, it's a keyless entry system for a car. The confusion is mostly the descriptions for the wires and where they should go. It would be easier it they had a diagram instead of a list with odd descriptions. They are too technical. Most of the wires are optional anyway for a bare bones install, bringing down the amount of wires needed for a successful install to just a few. I can't believe searching on the internet yielded nothing. Anyway, so if you are reading this and wondering how to hook this thing up, here it is. This is for a bare bones basic installation using two wire aftermarket actuators. No relays are needed with this keyless system because it already has built in relays.
1. Connect the Red wire to the 12 volt positive battery terminal.
2. Connect the Green/Black to the actuator.
3. Connect the White/Black wire to the 12 volt negative battery terminal.
4. Connect the Violet/Black to the 12 volt positive battery terminal.
5. Connect the Blue/ Black to the other wire on the actuator.
6. Connect the Violet wire (this wire is preconnected to the fused Violet/Black wire already out of the box. So no need to connect.) to the 12 volt positive battery terminal.
7. Connect the Brown/Black wire to the negative battery terminal.
8. Connect the black wire to the negative battery terminal.

This should get all the actuators to lock and unlock with the remotes. Nothing more, nothing less.

The manual is confusing in regards to passive locking. My 2009 manual that came with the product does not mention anything about passive locking. The same product manual from 2008 mentions that passive locking is tied up to passive arming and that the kill relay should be installed for both of them to work. Nevertheless it does not mention these items in the programming section. I was told by an installer that this features do not work very well with this brand of keyless entry system.

I got it installed, but it needed the relays. I ended up paying a place to get it working. It was hard to find any help. Not clear instructions. It does work now, but it doesn't beep like other ones do. I had the Avital put in my van, so yes I would RECCOMEND it to experienced installers.
