A must have for serious alarm protection,

Any alarm installer will tell you that the first thing a fairly proficient thief will do is to pop the trunk ( very easy to do once you put your mind to it) and pull the battery wire. That allows him to work comfortably in getting around the alarm without calling attention. Someone with a open trunk may even draw some sympathetic looks from bystanders.Well, if you are investing hundreds of dollars in a effective alarm system, it is not very intelligent not to spend a few bucks and get a stand alone battery. This also allows you to have a second hidden siren ( I have two) that keeps blasting after the thief has pulled the battery wire.He will realize he is up against a professional job and will move on to an easier steal 90% of the time. If you have a remote transmitter that will also mean the car owner is on its way. Here in Chicago where the second amendment blatantly ignored, and a law abiding citizen is prohibited from carrying a firearm for self defense, that means you will probably resort to throwing rocks at an armed criminal or wait for the police so that you can tell them how you lost your car after the thief is gone. Anyway the only thing that keeps me from giving a 5 star rating is that the battery does not have any indicator or link that will let know how much charge it is holding.

DE 520T,

This product is quality. I have been using it with my civic alarm for over 3 months now. I have had no issues thus far. Easy to hook up, quality product. The only confusing part is the power. When hooking up the wires your your alarm, you use the power wire from the battery. You do not join it with a separate power wire from the car. The alarm is powered by the car through the battery during normal operation. When the car power is lost, the battery continues to power the alarm module.

Nice product, very well built but quite a bit larger than I expected. Finding a spot under the dash may be an issue but I'll figure it out.

Reasonably-priced added layer of protection to alarm,

I installed this with a Python 991 in a 2004 GMC Sierra. It's a reasonably-priced additional layer of protection for the alarm system, since a thief breaking into a car with an alarm system will invariably try to clip the battery wire.

down to the point, YOU NEED THIS ITEM IF YOU HAVE AN ALARM. If a thief disconnects your battery the alarm shuts off, however, if you have this backup battery it continues to sound (siren). This gives you more time to realize, "hey thats my alarm!"

I've installed this onmy Vipper 3002. No troubles, it works like it's supposed to. If I have any trouble with it over the next year, I'll let you know.

520T Back-Up Battery System Review,
This review is from: Directed Electronics 520T Back-Up Battery System (Electronics)
Highly recommend this product as an add-on to any car alarm security system. If thieves manage to get into the hood and disconnect the car battery, the backup battery will power the alarm to sound. Another barrier of security for your car. An extra piece of mind when adding this to your system.

this is the second battery in 8 monthe the first fried and almost took the mainbattery with it,its hooked to a viper 5902,install is perfect, theyve installed ammps ,headunits, subs, etc no problem until this but its a smart idea,a back up battery but should last longer than 8 mnths.the price is right came fast but if you buy 2 its not such a great price,i also had the leveling sensor and caused 6 months of shorting, false triggering, had to disconnect and no problem till this back up self fried.BUYER BEWARE!All that glitters is not always gold.
