I bought this as a spare remote for my Viper 5900 alarm. If you have the alarm already, it works exactly the same as the remote that comes with the alarm. Syncing it is very easy, instructions are on the back of the packaging. If you are looking for an alarm...this is only the remote.

I bought this as a spare remote for my Directed Electronics Python car alarm (I don't have remote start installed) installed back in 2008. This Viper remote looks very similar to my Python remote (other than the different names stamped on the top, the other obvious difference is that my Python remote is black while the Viper is dark blue). Both are Model 7701V and my local installer got the Viper to accept the programming. So make sure that the back of your remote has Model 7701V stamped on it.

Note: If you have two remotes and if the remote that you are not using is in range, it takes about 20 seconds for it to receive the lock/unlock status from the car.

Update April 9, 2011. After almost three years of use, one side of the plastic belt clip hinge broke. I contacted Directed and they sent me a replacement at no charge.

you can find a better price , and its only replacement remote starter, it took them 3 weeks to send the item

Needed a replacement for the original remote. I checked locally & found that it was being sold for about $125. I decided to check online at Amazon & was pleasantly surprised that it was selling for about $50 cheaper. Ordered it & received it in a few days. Programming instructions provided were a little confusing, but I did find simpler instructions on the internet. Now it's working perfectly.

Great product easy to use and program, just make sure if you have this remote you check the code on the back because there are 2 different codes that have the same remote one is the 490 and the other is the 7701v as long as you order the right remote programming the remote is a snap.

I received this product in a timely maner, and it was right the first time.

ordered back in 2009 and still working. easy to setup. the only thing i dont like about the responder sst remote is that i have to change the AAA battery every 3-4 weeks

My brothers old one stop working before the holidays so i got him new one from here not knowing if its going to work since my brothers system was about 4 or 5 years old and i got it fast in mail, instaled batteries, reset the car system and now its working like new. Great buy, work perfectly.

Bought as a replacement to a remote that had been damaged. Item works great and was easy to sync with already installed components on the vehicle. Great product.

This is the cheapest price I've found on this item other sites wanted $150.00 - $225.00 for the remote alone or it only came with the whole system im so glad i checked here. I needed a spare for my mom now i dont have to worry about giving her mine all the time.
