Curtain Going Up,
By Tom (Scottsdale, Arizona USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Directing Process [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The video is fairly dry; bear in mind these are theatre students hosting a video, and the subtlety of screen isn't as used as it might have been. In other words, the acting segments might seem weak, but it's only because they are stage-acting for film, and the translation never works. The techniques are tried-and-true, practical, and easy to follow. Any theatre student would benefit from it,as would the myriad teachers and churchgoers who find themselves "volunteered" to produce a show of some sort. As a theatre owner of 5 years, I can honestly say this video covers all the basics quite well, giving viewers enough info to really get started on their show.
