Cinematic Poetry,
By Yolanda Hawkins (New York, New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Directions to My House (Pitt Poetry) (Paperback)
Robyn Selman's "Directions to My House" is a journey for the mind. Her poems are cinematic, story-full, and emotional. She moves between the mundane and the profound and makes them spin into a web of meaning while refusing to tell us which aspect has more value. It is a lovely difficult trip, with family, with friends, with nature, on drugs, with men and a belated coming of age in "Lesbos." A skilled poet, she describes the ineffable with brightness and clarity. It is a beautiful book you will return to again and again for further adventures in poetry.
