About the Author

After three years at WVU, Dr. Ayers has joined the Pedagogy faculty at Western Michigan University, where she is now an assistant professor. Her research interests include student cognition, test and survey development, fitness education, and curriculum development. Her contributions to the professional literature include publications in peer-reviewed journals, books, and numerous presentations at the state and national levels. A recreational weight trainer, Dr. Ayers also enjoys golfing, walking, playing racquetball, reading, and working in the yard.

Dr. Housner is currently associate dean and professor of physical education teacher education at West Virginia University. Dr. Housner received his B.S. from the University of Virginia and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. While attending graduate school, he taught physical education to children in preschool through eighth grade. Dr. Housner has been involved in many professional organizations and has served as NMAHPERD president, research section chair for Southwest AHPERD, C&I Academy Chair for AAH-PERD, and president of the AERA-SIG on learning and instruction in physical education. Dr. Housner has published work on teacher cognition and teaching physical education in state, regional, national, and international journals and was selected Southwest AHPERD Scholar in 1994.

Ha Young Kim is currently a doctoral student, with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction, in the Physical Education Department at West Virginia University, where he acts as both a BIP Instructor and a Graduate Teaching Assistant. He has a B.S.-Taekwondo in Physical Education from Kyung Hee University in Seoul, Korea, a M.S. in Sport Administration from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse, and a M.S. in Sport Pedagogy from Purdue University. He is a member of the AAHPERD, WVAHPERD, AERA, and ABA, and has taught Taekwondo at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and Purdue, as well as Golf and Tennis at West Virginia University. His research interests include physical fitness, class size in PE, levels of MVPA in children, and teaching behaviors. His hometown is Seoul, Korea. He is married with one daughter, Ji Yoon, and two sons, Andrew and Jun. His hobbies include basketball, badminton, and golf.
