From Library Journal
This book/CD-ROM package contains 2570 listings of public and private organizations and government agencies serving the blind and visually handicapped in the United States and Canada. There are Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Mac, and DOS versions all on one disc, and it should be noted that the DOS version has been designed to work with screen readers and other adaptive technology. The search interface is not especially sophisticated, powerful, or explicit ("Narrow the scope of your search by typing the words you want to search for in any of the boxes below, then press OK"), and the jewel case manual states "use of this product to create mailing labels is strictly prohibited. Labels or mailing lists...may be ordered from AFB Press...," which certainly cuts down on a major application for the electronic information. Bottom Line: The disc does offer some added value over the print version (the ability to search and sort by more than the book's geographic arrangement), but since the print and CD-ROM come bundled in this 25th edition of a standard reference work, an argument against the disc seems moot: this resource is highly recommended for its content to public libraries (be prepared to be disappointed by the electronic implementation, however).
