I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I am so happy about the outcome of this order. I was initially nervous that: 1) it would not get here in time for the event; and 2) I would not be able to set it up properly.
I sent an e-mail through Amazon to the seller (Satellite Oasis), and got a quick response that it would arrive on time. It actually arrived two business days later, which was much quicker than the Amazon estimate. To set it up, I first scared the heck out of myself by watching a DirecTV installation video on YouTube. At the end of the day, I have reduced it to these pointers: 1) Assemble everything including running cable to the LNB and setting the tilt, and elevation roughly, as stated in the instructions. The Elevation, Tilt and Azimuth are shown on the dish set up page on DirecTV. 2) Tighten all the tripod bolts, but leave the bolts on the sleeve attached to the dish loose enough to be able to move the dish left or right. 3) With the Dish hooked up to a receiver and TV (I brought it all out to one location which makes it easy for one person), change to see the signal strength for Satellite 101 on transponder 13 (I read that somewhere, but I am not sure if it is critical). 4) Adjust the azimuth (move left to right) until you have the strongest possible reading, then tighten the sleeve. 5) Loosen the elevation bolts, and adjust the elevation until you have the highest possible reading, then tighten slightly. 6) Switch to other satellites and fine tune further. I have done this twice now, and the second time was able to get HD channels within just a few minutes of starting to point the dish. I was quite surprised. Now I feel like I can take DirecTV anywhere!

If you have a currently shipping DirectTV HD Receiver H25, this dish kit will not work with it. The seller says this in one of their notes. Make sure you know what model receiver you have as this will only work with the older receivers. The H25 receiver needs a 3LNB SWM style with inline-power inserter, and this is a 5LNB non-SWM style. The seller does not accept phone calls. The seller does not swap out the LNB with one that will work with the H25 receiver. Consumer is left to fend for himself with a useless part. One solution is to go to competing online auction site and search for correct part and buy it. Then use the useless part as a door stop or try to sell it. The tuition for this learning experience is going to be about $45 (unless I buy the replacement part from this seller then it would be about $100). I suggest you look elswhere for your antenna parts. Perhaps you pay $5 more, but you should look for a seller that will talk with you on the phone. Also, make sure you do your research and know what parts you need to complete your system. Item was as advertised, and the price was okay. My fault for not knowing enough about what I needed to complete my system. But still, they are a retailer and they won't work with a customer who made a simple mistake. Email support only. GAN

Way Bigger Than I Expected,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Directv Hd Satellite Dish Rv Tripod Kit (Electronics)
Purchased this unit as a portable for our travel trailer. I was expecting a small dish and tripod. This thing is huge. It is larger than the one mounted on the house. Next suprise was NO documentation in the shipping package. I had to call the seller and they emailed me the Directv instructions for their service personell to install. The instructions from the seller were poorly written. When I tried to install it for the first time, I ended up on the Directv support line for an hour, and still had to have a service tech come to the house. We finally got the system to work and I am pleased with the results, just not the size.
I took one star off for no instructions in the box, and poor instructions after.
