I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I am so happy about the outcome of this order. I was initially nervous that: 1) it would not get here in time for the event; and 2) I would not be able to set it up properly.
I sent an e-mail through Amazon to the seller (Satellite Oasis), and got a quick response that it would arrive on time. It actually arrived two business days later, which was much quicker than the Amazon estimate.
To set it up, I first scared the heck out of myself by watching a DirecTV installation video on YouTube. At the end of the day, I have reduced it to these pointers:
1) Assemble everything including running cable to the LNB and setting the tilt, and elevation roughly, as stated in the instructions. The Elevation, Tilt and Azimuth are shown on the dish set up page on DirecTV.
2) Tighten all the tripod bolts, but leave the bolts on the sleeve attached to the dish loose enough to be able to move the dish left or right.
3) With the Dish hooked up to a receiver and TV (I brought it all out to one location which makes it easy for one person), change to see the signal strength for Satellite 101 on transponder 13 (I read that somewhere, but I am not sure if it is critical).
4) Adjust the azimuth (move left to right) until you have the strongest possible reading, then tighten the sleeve.
5) Loosen the elevation bolts, and adjust the elevation until you have the highest possible reading, then tighten slightly.
6) Switch to other satellites and fine tune further.
I have done this twice now, and the second time was able to get HD channels within just a few minutes of starting to point the dish. I was quite surprised. Now I feel like I can take DirecTV anywhere!
