5.0 out of 5 stars $$$ unless you're a big fan, April 4, 2006
some people want to collect anything that says final fantasy on it. if you're one of them, like me, then get this. the LM box set has only the 2-disc soundtrack in the box. the box is there to hold the soundtrack, the Gackt LM redemption cd/dvd and the PS2 game. it's a very pretty box and the soundtrack has 53 songs on it, including the new singles (Longing & Redemption) from Gackt. amazon.com's importing price is outrageous though. find a local importer for this one, it's only 3,900 yen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Extremely good soundtrack for a FPS, not near as good as the previous FF soundtracks., September 13, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Well, I own pretty much every final fantasy soundtrack that exists currently (including 12 limited edition). I also have Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross as well as a number of other ones too. Being no stranger to gaming music, I found this one OK but not fantastic by any means. This game's music almost totally abandons that of the original Final Fantasy VII music, only retaining the "marching" feel that FFVII has in many of the soundtracks. Some change is good, but this music does loose the feel of the original FF7 game though.

There are some positives of this music though, which is why I rated it a 4. This music, as you play the game, does mesh in quite well in the general theme of the game. A lot of the music is more mysterious and march like, kinda the feel of the army-fighting-way that the main game has. This music does sound good though, especially the last two tracks but as like the game, it's an almost total departure from the original game.

As far as the collector's edition vs the normal. In my opinion, if you plan to buy the game and the single then this boxed set is a pretty good idea too if you want everything together and actually have it for collecting. On the other hand, if you're like me and buy it for just a collector item and don't buy the game or the single then much of this kinda feels like a waste of money. When I bought this, I thought of a foldout case like the FFXII collector edition, where you could put the cerberus DVD and the single in. It's not quite like that..instead it's designed so the cases of each of the other items will fit in the boxed set. I didn't like that idea much, but meh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Final Fantasy Collector's Choice, December 15, 2008
This review is from: Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy (Audio CD)
As a collector of all of the Final Fantasy Soundtracks beginning with VII, to XII, and all the spin-offs and fan soundtracks in-between, Dirge of Cerberus, a 2-CD set may have been worth far more than one has bargained for. Many orchestral tracks can be found on the CD. Comparing to Nobuo Uematsu's clean but memorable tracks or Hitoshi Sakimoto (who composed Final Fantasy XII)'s beautiful and stunning themes, the composer, Masashi Hamauzu, who arranged this soundtrack did not try to over-do his musical ability.

The soundtrack has well arranged chords and melody, ranging from romantic garden-like scenery to top secret espionage and spy music. The battle music is tense and exciting - what you expect from Final Fantasy VII. Many tracks feature the clarinet juxtaposed on top of a pad of multiple violin playing in sync and a cold clean piano accompaniment. Other tracks include elegant piano and strong percussion.

Reminds the listener of being in a Jazz bar - relaxing, refreshing, and cool. Expect endless hours of listening, without songs becoming old or trite.

5.0 out of 5 stars So many memories, June 13, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Seeing this product brought back so many memories of when I first played the game. I fell head over heels for it when I first saw it and played it. I love the music. "Silent Edge," "LONGING," "Trespasser," and "Uneasy Feelings" are great songs. They put me to sleep whenever I listen to them. And I like music like that so for when I take naps.

This CD is well wroth especiall since you get a Music Video of Gackt's Redemption Music and beautiful music score as always from SquareEnix.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Excellent!!!, August 3, 2006
If you are a true FF7 Fan you need to get this box set of CD's. The music is just amazing and has a great sound to it. The price is reasonable for what you get. And since it is imported it makes it all the sweeter.
