5.0 out of 5 stars Beware of Ant tracks !
Well, whether you like it or not, this is the original Antsound... thrashing guitars (rip Matthew Ashman / Bow Wow Wow, Chiefs of Relief, Wide Boy Awake, Max, Agent Provocateur), pre-tribal beats (Dave Barbe / Bow Wow Wow, Republica), plodding basslines (Andy Warren, of Monochrome Set fame) and walloping vocals (Adam Ant) but, mind you, "Dirk (Bogarde) wears White Sox" is...

3.0 out of 5 stars I adore Adam, but...
this is hardly what you would recognize as the Ant sound, it's there but not as polished. This is more punkish, not quite as catchy as Adam's later albums. Still it's worth a listen if you are a total Ant fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beware of Ant tracks !, May 26, 2002
This review is from: Dirk Wears White Sox (Audio CD)
Well, whether you like it or not, this is the original Antsound... thrashing guitars (rip Matthew Ashman / Bow Wow Wow, Chiefs of Relief, Wide Boy Awake, Max, Agent Provocateur), pre-tribal beats (Dave Barbe / Bow Wow Wow, Republica), plodding basslines (Andy Warren, of Monochrome Set fame) and walloping vocals (Adam Ant) but, mind you, "Dirk (Bogarde) wears White Sox" is good old Antmusic for Sexpeople at his very best, before Madam Stan became the mincing and prancing dwarfish casanova we all loved to hate way back in the dreaded 80's... That was Antmusic then: tartan bondage trousers, glue-it-yourself mohicans, sweat-drenched gigs in packed crappy venues (aaah the F-Club, Brannigans, Leeds, July 1979, were you there?) pure sex, pure energy, a raw blend of super-heavy-punk-funk that finally tore its way up in the charts before totally selling out like Billy Idol. Don't be square, be there, get hold of the best ever and most genuine Ant tracks and join the Family of Noise!

5.0 out of 5 stars masterpiece of modern art, April 10, 2004
This review is from: Dirk Wears White Sox (Audio CD)
This is the pinnacle of 70's english punk, a sadly overlooked masterpiece of modern art. The originality and intensity of this music outshines almost anything being made today in any genre. This aint 80's Goody Two Shoes Ants, this is edgy, dark, and heavy in places. Much harder to find on CD than LP, if you see it, get it. I've been listening to this consistently since it was released and it never wears out. Classic.

i bought this album when it came out, and even though its not the original track list (how can you omit 'the day i met god?'), its them at there very best.Same as a lot of bands they went down hill after starting out superb.there is nothing like this album.Quality and original still.

This review is from: Dirk Wears White Sox (Hk) (Reis) (Audio CD)
I had a copy of a copy on cassette that I was getting worried about still listening too. I found this online and it is so awesome. There are extra tracks and I now have it in my handy iPod!!

First heard this one as a teenager, and I keep coming back to it. Never ever saw it in the collections of people I know. Also is doesn't really compare to the rest of the Ant's music, which I really don't care much for.
