5.0 out of 5 stars Christina Aguilera gets "dirrty"!
Despite the much controversy surrounding this song, "Dirrty" is a great hip-hop song and might even be one of Christina Aguilera's best. This CD single is a must for all those who love "Dirrty". Here are the listed tracks:

1.) "Dirrty" ['No Rap' Edit] ~ this version of the song is okay, but it doesn't have the rap part in it, which is a good part of the song. 3/5...

1.0 out of 5 stars Dirty Crap
What is happening, holy crap what is she doing?.This song lacks everything. A good sound, beat and it hasn't even got a chorus. I think she's talented and has a wonderful voice and her previous stuff has been good so why not continue that way. Christina clearly want to to look more mature in her music, but this is not the right thing to do, and indroducing b-rapper Redman...

5.0 out of 5 stars Christina Aguilera gets "dirrty"!, November 2, 2002

Despite the much controversy surrounding this song, "Dirrty" is a great hip-hop song and might even be one of Christina Aguilera's best. This CD single is a must for all those who love "Dirrty". Here are the listed tracks:

1.) "Dirrty" ['No Rap' Edit] ~ this version of the song is okay, but it doesn't have the rap part in it, which is a good part of the song. 3/5 stars

2.) "I Will Be" ~ nice bonus song! I like it. 4/5 stars

3.) "Dirrty" ~ now here's the radio version! You all have heard it. This song is extremely catchy with a good beat. 5/5 stars

4.) "Dirrty" [enhanced video] ~ the full-length, much-talked about video. One word: awesome! 5/5 stars

Christina's vocals are better than ever and this is an amazing song...despite what some people would think. Sure, the lyrics are a bit nasty but why else would Christina call this song, "Dirrty"?! Can't wait to hear her 'Stripped' album!

I highly recommend the "Dirrty" CD single.

98/100

4.0 out of 5 stars Title single- OK, B-side- AMAZING!, October 15, 2002
This review is from: DIRRTY (Audio CD)
Ok, so "Dirrty" isn't exactly the greatest song ever, but it's not horrible either. It sounds like almost every other song on the radio these days, with one major exception- that voice. Christina is definately one of the most talented artists of our time and frankly it's a bit of a shame to see her waste her immense vocal talent on something like this.

Well, if you feel like I do, there's hope- the b-side "I Will Be." It's a gorgeous ballad- very personal, not over-the-top, and showcases her powerful pipes. And that song alone is worth your money.

Or, if you feel like getting dirrty, the cd is enhanced with the title track's video.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Teen-Pop Sensation Transformed Forever, December 13, 2003
By
Busy Body (London, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dirrty (Audio CD)
Christina Aguilera was once a bouncy young girl who sang about relationships and boyfriends. That was four years ago. She's now not only the biggest female artist in the world (with the exception of Britney) but the most respected because of her lyrics and her voice. Her transformation from teen-pop singer to slick and smooth powerful icon is amazing. She may well be riding on the success of the current teen-pop hate scene which was born as 2002 started, but she's enjoying the ride while she can. In late 2002, Christina released her second proper album titled "Stripped." It was a slow seller at first, but a long one; it's still in the charts as I type and will continue its success well into 2004 by my estimations. This is mainly due to the five massive singles that have come from it. The first single to be released is the most notorious of them all: Dirrty...

For the best part of 2002 Christina Aguilera was a laughing stock for her outrageous hair in the video to "Lady Marmalade." That changed, albeit briefly, as that year ended when the world saw the video to Dirrty. All those straight-laced mothers desperate to protect their daughters from the 'appalling' sight in front of them were obviously disgusted. Christina Aguilera flashing her ass and nether-regions? Well, I never! What people fail to realise is that Christina is simply expressing herself and doing as she pleases. She's not listening to what anyone has to say if it's negative. She'll focus on the positive and know deep down that her reward is waiting somewhere along the line.

So what about the actual song? Well, the video was so shocking that the song flopped big time in the US. Christina's old fanbase love the ballads, and they believe her voice sounds horrifying on this. In the UK, however, it's a different matter. The song stormed to No.1 for two weeks in November 2002 and the video is easily the most played since Britney's "Baby One More Time." The video is probably being played as we speak. It tops the charts still a year later as the most requested video on The Box and other such stations. If you put it up for request on TRL UK, it'd almost certainly be No.1. Anyway, back to the song.

It starts off with the sound of chains crunching, then Christina whispering in the background along with Redman. The beat is subdued, and the song is just ready to blow up. It then starts, and Christina sings "Ladies! Gentlemen!" and the whole song just kicks off. After about 40 seconds, Christina starts singing the verse, "Oooh, I'm overdue, gimme some room, I'm coming through. Paid my dues, in the mood, me and my girls come shake the room. DJ spinnin', show your hands, let's get dirrty, that's my jam. I need that, uh to get me off, sweatin' till my clothes come off." She then sings, "It's explosive, speakers are thumpin', still jumpin', six in the morning, table dancing, glasses are crashing, no question time for some action. temperature's up, 'bout to erupt. Gonna get my girls, get your boys, gonna make some noise." The beat revs up even more as she sings the explosive chorus, "Gonna get rowdy, gonna get a little unruly. Get it fired up in a hurry. Wanna get dirrty, it's about time that I came to start the party. Sweat drippin' over my body. Dancin', getting just a little naughty. Wanna get dirrty, it's about time for my arrival."

The second verse then kicks in as Christina's vocals increase, as does the second chorus. The bridge then starts. It's one of the best parts of the song where Christina sings, "Here it comes, it's the one you've been waiting on. Get up get it rough, yup that's what up. Givin' just what you love to the maximum, Uh oh, here we go. What to do when the music starts to drop. That's when we take it to the parking lot and I bet you somebody's gonna call the cops. Uh oh, here we go." Redman then sings his rap. It adds an even more rough edge to the song, if that were possible. The chorus is then repeated more as Christina's vocals go through the roof, and the song ends abruptly with the words, "Uh, what?"

Overall, this was THE song of 2002 in the UK. Every teenager loved this song to the max. People boomed it out of their speakers at schools and colleges all over the nation. It brought people together. People who loved pop, people who loved rock - all joined by one song. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does you have to savour the moments. I hated the song to begin with, but it did begin to grow on me. It's not the best song to released from Stripped, but it was very close. Buy it now you Americans and discover why you missed out on this classic dance anthem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outrageous but so addictive!, January 19, 2004
By
This review is from: Dirrty (Audio CD)
People have really given this song a panning in the past. When I first heard it and saw the raunchy video my first thought was "oh no! Not another smutty song!"

However I decided to give it a chance, and watched and listened to it again and I have to admit I really like it!

It's rude, crude, baaaaaad, and TOTALLY outrageous, both the video and the lyrics but it is SO tongue in cheek you just have to love it!!

Also this is a great dance song, with a nifty beat and wickedly and obviously dirrrrty lyrics. Add to this Christina Aguilera dancing like a demon and singing like a recently Fallen Angel and you have one really HOT song.

I can understand why some people don't like it but each to their own I say!

5.0 out of 5 stars Complete shock!, September 16, 2005
This review is from: Dirrty (Audio CD)
I love "Dirrty"! It's a great pop song & the video was hot too. I don't know why people make such a big deal about it. I've seen Madonna do alot worse. I like this song because it has a great dance beat & it really makes you wanna get down. I love her transformation from bubbly teen to sexy young woman, it was shocking to many but I like it.

I didn't like it all that much at first listen because it's such a different sound than I'm used to from Christina, but I like it more and more every time I listen to it. I just can't help but get pumped up when this song is being blasted out of my car stereo speakers. Dirrty is one of Christina's bests.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christina Aguilera's BEST song!, January 9, 2004
This review is from: Dirrty (Audio CD)
"Dirrty" is probably Christina Aguilera's most hated song and I can understand why: the infamous video. The "Dirrty" video was meant to be dirty, the song's about not being afraid of being yourself and getting down and dirty. It kind of changed me in a way, when I listen to this song I feel completely free of my inhibitions, it makes me feel so good and I'm so glad that Christina made it. It's such an hard song, it's not the kind of song we are used to hear on the radio or dance in a Club, it's more grimey, extremely raw and of course, a young kid is not gonna like it, specially if it's coming from an ex Pop Idol like Christina Aguilera. I wasn't surprised when "Stripped" debuted at #2, Christina lost a lot of younger fans because of this song but thankfully she gained new fans with songs like "Beautiful" or "Fighter", which made this album a multi-platinum success (it's still on the charts after over a year!). Go Christina!

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit of a guilty pleasure..., December 27, 2002
By
This review is from: Dirrty (Audio CD)
I have to admit that over the last couple of years, I'd been waiting for Christina's sophomore album to surface. After 18 months of working in the studio, "STRIPPED" finally saw the light of day. So, how does one introduce a drastically over-the-top album to the public? With a way-over-the-top first single! Britney is going to have to get pretty disgusting to top this! 'Dirrty' is, of course, a fast-paced MTV hit that actually flopped as a radio cut. While the song isn't bad, the album has a lot more to offer (and better I might add). 'Dirrty' is great for the dance floor, and I like the fact that Christina isn't afraid to try something new (and daring). The Canadian single only features the radio version of 'Dirrty' and the gorgeous 'I Will Be,' which is reason enough to buy this single. This b-side reminds me the Christina's latest hit 'Beautiful.' 'I Will Be' is a beautiful, passionate, soaring ballad that Christina really pours her heart and soul into. Superb to say the least! The 'Dirrty' video, of course, is something everyone knows about already. It's very attention grabbing (which is exactly what the label the Christina wanted). Let's face it - Sex sells! And Christina definitely knows how to move the merchandise! True fans will enjoy this single.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deliciously Dirrty, November 17, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Dirrty (Audio CD)
Thank God the squeeky-clean image has gone. This track has Aguilera devotees somewhat divided, and in a way that can only be a good thing for an 'Artiste'(bit cheesey, sorry); it demonstrates development of a kind, though that can only be assessed in retrospect.
I could never claim to be an Aguilera fan, but this track really grabbed my attention. It appears that she really has come into her own now, whatever her puritanical detractors may say, this track has all the hallmarks of a sincere artistic statement. In a world of bland homogenised Pop, Soul and R&B, the stir this track has generated is a welcome one.
I haven't checked out the 'Stripped' album yet, but I shall. I never imagined liking anything Aguilera did, it just goes to show how things change; and change she has...for the better. Superb track.
