This is a fun game to play with friends, and some of the cars are cool, but racing is difficult. If you are trying to beat the computer, it will take some work to learn how to properly control the car with the wii. The graphics aren't awesome either.

I love this game especially with the logitec wii wheel. this is an intense game sometimes it is more stressful to play. It is the most realistic car game I have played and the turbo boost is exciting.

This game is fun on the Wii if you are using the Logitec Speedforce steering wheel. I am a little disappointed how much this game is unlike the versions for Playstation and the PC. It lacks some of the freedom of choice. Overall a fun game, however.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT playing Dirt 2 on the Wii without the Logitech Speed Force Wireless Wheel.
I received the Logitech Speed Force Wireless Wheel as a gift. Unfortunately there are very few games which take advantage of the wheel and the one it was designed for, Formula One 2009, is very expensive. I found out that Dirt 2 is a compatible game and picked up a copy. I'm glad I did. I LOVE driving games, but on the Wii they leave much to be desired with regard to control. The Wii remote is a lot of things, but it's a poor steering wheel. I've used the plastic ring steering wheel attachment for the Wii remote, which helps a little, but steering control suffers without a fixed axis for the steering wheel to rotate on, and there's zero feedback. You're pretty much guessing the whole time and then overcorrecting. You end up crashing a lot, which is not much fun. Dirt 2 is pretty much un-playable on the Wii with the Wii remote. That's a shame because when you add the Logitech wheel it all comes together and is a blast to play. If you're used to XBox and PS3 graphics you're probably going to be disappointed, but for the Wii the graphics and motion are OK. The alt-rock/punk soundtrack is appropriate to the X-Games style action. There are plenty of routes/races to choose from, as well as multiple cars. Dirt 2 is not the ultimate driving sim by a long shot, but it is great fun *IF* you use the Logitech Wheel. You can order and Dirt 2 and the wheel in a bundle on Amazon. It's an essential accessory and well worth it.

I was looking for real NASCAR for the Wii and ran across this game. My grandson and I both enjoy the game. It is surprisingly well executed and challenging

The game is fun, especially with the steering wheel, but the inputs are extremely touchy. I would like to be able to adjust the sensitivity of the controls.

If you actually are a rally fan, you will find this game somehow dissappointing for the following reasons:
1. Cars: only Subaru and Mitsubishi are the only brands currently present in the WRC. Other cars like BMW, Nissan, Hummer, Ford F-250, etc., has nothing to do with the World Rally Championship. This game is supposed to be sponsored in the name of the former World Rally Champion, Colin McRae; but the design of the cars, tracks, etc., has absolutely nothing to do with the real World Rally Championship as we know it. 2. Tracks: there are basically no single track known from the WRC in this game. Very dissappointing. 3. Graphics quality: the quality of the graphics is quite poor, and nothing to do with the Dirt 2 Commercials, where there are impressive shots of images and videos. Perhaps the quality of graphics could be better in the PS2-3 or X-Box, but definitely in Wii, the graphics are also very dissapointing.

I purchased a Wii steering wheel before I knew there were very few games that work with it. This is one of those games so I purchased it out of lack of choices. There are a number of different types of cars ranging from sports cars like the 350z to trucks like the Dodge Ram and Ford F150 to custom off road vehicles and races vary from very fast road type races with very little off road to races in sand and ice which all have different handling characteristics. It sounds good in theory but for my tastes it is a little too realistic in the physics and handling. The brakes, accelerator, and e-brake are all used all the time which makes for a very challenging game but not necessarily the most enjoyable game. The graphics are just ok and that is even taking into consideration it is a Wii game. If you are someone that enjoys a more realistic type of racing game then you could give it 4 stars but the graphics and controls keep it from deserving 5 stars.

Don't buy this game if your looking for a rally career mode. The career mode is pathetic. First of all, you don't get to choose your own car and modify it. Instead the game allows you to choose between two or three cars for each race. The worst thing is that the career has barely any races in it and will only last for a couple of days. The only use of this game is the multiplayer mode.

Dirt 2 was good on every platform, but sumo ruined it.,

This is the one game franchise I always look forward too, but in Colin McRaee for Wii, Codemasters contracted a company to program the game for Wii.
It was a bit of fun but the fun diminished. Codemasters is a very good company, but they used Sumo for the programming for the Wii. As a result, Dirt 2 for Wii looks terrible, rushed and has ruined the franchise on Wii... Next time I will get Dirt 3 on PC. |
