Terrible product:1. The device requires frequent charging...you can only use it for a couple of minutes before the charge dies. 2. When charging, you don't know when to stop because the charging light won't ever go off...this is true with all of the vacuums...not just mine. 3. It's too big to leave on "display" and the charging cord is permanently attached (i.e. it won't look good on the counter/shelf).

If you want a nice ornament for your accent table, get this. If you need a vacuum that actually does its job, don't get this. My wife won't let me return it b/c she likes how it looks despite its failure of actually vacuuming anything efficiently. It's very noisy and blows everything away before you can get a chance to suck it up. Like other reviewers have stated, this vacuum is LEFT-HANDED. Don't believe me? Buy it and you'll see why. Also the tip of the vacuum is made of rubber/tacky latex. It'll leave skid marks if the tip touches your hardwood floors or shiny wood furntiture. DO NOT BUY IT TO USE AS A VACUUM.

Kone Cordless Hand Vac,

This product is not worth buying I am returning it after using it for the 1st time today. The reason is that the way it is shaped the air blows out of the center of the "Kone" shape. Which blow most of what you want to vacuum up away. I bought it for quick cleam up. The first area I tried to use the Kone Vac was around my bird cage. The feathers and seeds blew away when I attempted to vacuum them up. The machine is also very loud. You would think that there was a lot of suction but there is just a lot of noise not a lot of suction. I was so disappointed because it was so compact and looked great. But does not work well at all...That I will return it to get my money back.

Ditto on the previous comments about the air blowing the dust around before you can get to it. What WERE they thinking when they designed this thing? The suction is "okay" for a portable "picker-upper" but as others have said, with all the noise, it SOUNDS it's sucking the floor right up. I really hate the "rubber thing" at the end. Besides leaving skid marks, it makes it hard to "slide it" across the floor to pick up light things such as hair and small crumbs. You have to hold it slightly at an angle or away from the floor - and besides exacerbating the "air blowing" problem, it reduces the suction when you do that. I also wish that, like some other portables, it came with an attachment. My objective here was to replace my convertible "stick broom" thing with this cordless one. I hate having to deal with the cord on the stick broom, but I like the fact that it has a long wand-like attachment that helps me get into tiny nooks and crannies like behind the radiator or toilet in the bathroom and on the side of the stove or fridge. I also like the optional long handle on the stick broom. This thing has neither. so I'm limited in where and how I can use it. Also, I know some others like the "decor" look to it, but I find that useless. You can only face it one way because of where the cord comes out, and what do you see on your nice "decorative" cone light but the glaring brand name of Dirt Devil. That's a deal breaker as far as "living room decor" goes for me! I also don't like the fact that you can't tell when it's fully charged, though I haven't used it for a long enough duration out of the charger for it to "die" yet. I do leave it off the charger all day, tucked in one of the cubbyholes of my desk, because I work from home and like the handiness of a quick cleanup of any crumbs, hair, etc., that I might notice as the day wears on. Then it goes back into the charger at night. My grandkids think it's fun, so it's going to their house in the hopes that they'll be inspired to keep the bathroom floor clean at their home. As for me, I'm back to square one in my neverending quest to find the perfect portable vaccum. Rather than trying from scratch to think up a great idea, some clever engineer out there should just read the reviews on every vacuum (portable and otherwise) ever made and figure out what NOT do to with a vacuum design, and go from there. Then MAYBE someone will finally get it right!

Good at sucking but why does it blow?,

This vacuum is very cute and stylistically, I really like it. It also does a good job of sucking up dirt and dust and crumbs. But I live in an apartment that develops pretty big dust bunnies seemingly overnight and for some reason this vacuum blows air out of these holes located several inches from the tip. So sometimes I have to chase the bunnies that are being blown away by the vacuum before I can get them close enough to suck them up. Maybe I need to adjust something but the instructions that come with the unit are basic and uninformative.
Also, a few weeks later, i noticed the top was jammed, so I cant open to empty and have had it too long (probably) to return. Very frustrating. Will probably throw it out with the trash.

The first thing that struck me as odd was the handle - which there is virtually none. You grasp the product by the top of the cone which is awkward and slippery, especially for someone with small hands, like me. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to keep a tight hold on it while vacuuming up a mess with weight - such as cat litter. You cannot turn the unit on/off with the same hand you're holding it with. The on/off button is at the tip of the cone, which is at your wrist while the cone is in your hand, so you need to use your other hand to operate the button. Finally, as others have written, the exhaust blows around more stuff than the unit actually picks up. I plan to return mine as well. I'd rather have an ugly, but useful, unit hanging on the wall than deal with this inferior excuse for a hand-vac.

Here's the deal, I've been reading reviews on Amazon for years and have never contributed, but I'm gonna start. I'm a stay at home dad with a serious over researching problem. I'm a technology buff and I have to have the best stuff. I was a little thrown off by reviews about the exhaust being a problem, but IT IS NOT. Unless your vaccuming up feathers floating around then nothing is going to get blown away. the vents dont go all the way around the unit. The side that faces down has no vents so the air being exhausted doesn't blow down. This thing is loud, but IT SUCKS (in a good way). I think the sound is rather impressive. It holds just enough to get a few spill cleanups out of it. As far as the filter goes. the thing wipes clean with your hand and the fabric on the filter is so tough that I washed it and an hour later it was dry and perfectly clean. I don't see ever replacing the filter. And from my uses so far even when the filter is full of dog hair and dust this thing still sucks. Lets face it, this Kone thing is Great. It looks kick a$$ it sucks like crazy and is built so sturdy. I unfortunately because of reviews on here bought mine at Target in case i wanted to return it. BUY IT from Amazon and send me a thankyou note later!

The product looks quite stylish. However the exhaust is so close to the vacuum that it can accidently scatter the very stuff you're trying to have it pick up... The other big problem is that the noise is shockingly loud... On the plus side, you can actually leave it out since it looks almost like a modern sculptural element AND as long as your careful, it can do a pretty decent job picking up the odd spill.

The vac is easy to use, surprisingly powerful, and has a sleek look. However it is annoying to clean - too much dirt sticks to the filter, probably a ploy to get you to by refills

Good performance...so far,

I just purchased the Kone less than a week ago and am pleased with the performance so far. The suction power is very good and the Kone did a great job of sucking up the pet hair and dust that accumulated on my hardwood stairs (and it worked great getting around the balustrades). Actually, it did such a good job that I started going around the baseboards in a couple of rooms and was surprised how much my vacuum had left behind...and I'm a clean freak!
As other people have mentioned, this does blow air down towards the floor so you spend a little time retracing where you've already vacuumed, but it's not bad enough to rate this product below four stars or not to buy it. This is one of the only appliances that I would leave out in my home due to it's good design. |
