4.0 out of 5 stars Good product
Update 06/16/10=is performing consist and pick up is better than most handhelds.

I previously owned a Shark 15 volt with roller brush. It is getting old so I am shifting it to car clean up only. So when I shopped for a replacement, it was down to The Euro Pro Shark 16.9 volt with motorized brush or this one. I could not find the Dirt Devil in a store...

1.0 out of 5 stars poor suction power
I am really disappointed in this product. Although the vacuum sounds like it has alot of suction power, it really doesnt. I have to go over the area that i am trying to pick up some dirt several times. it almost gets to the point that it is easier to pick up or sweep up the dirt/item. This is while it is fully charged.

I could not find the Dirt Devil in a store to look at, but did look at the Euro Pro in the store.

I purchased the Dirt Devil because it had higher volts, the crevice tool is attached, and it is supposedly easier to empty the cup.

However, this DD does not have the immediate power suction my old 15 volt Shark has. You have to be more methodical about it, and run the thing slower over the areas. It picks up good though.

The Euro Pro has more bristles.

I like the attached crevice tool, one less thing to keep up with.

I really can't see the big deal that it is easier to empty the cup.

This unit is so powerful it nearly jumps out of your hand when you hit the on button, and it leaves NOTHING behind. Picking up little crumbs and things from a carpet, it doesn't wait for the nozzle to suck it up, but starts sucking when the nozzle is about an inch away. This replaces a Dustbuster that's 20 years old. I've had an upright lightweight Dirt Devil for years that's served me well, and I'm hopeful this will do the same. I haven't used the brush yet except to see if it runs. I also haven't used it long enough to judge the endurance of the battery, but so far it's fine. Yes, it makes some noise. You can avoid the noise by getting a less powerful unit, but I think most people use cordless vacuums only a few minutes at a time, so the noise should be bearable for such brief use.

Very pleased with the performance of the Dirt Devil. The only down side to the product is that it has not got a wall hanging cradle. Otherwise very pleased with the product and it's pickup power

Great little vacuum. Fills up quick, does't have the suction of my fullsize vac. But did my homework before I bought this one is great for price and what it's used for, read about too many people dogging it for lack of power and small batter life, but I'm not vacuuming my livingroom with it. Just perfect and much better than other hand vacs I've dealt with. Buy this vav, haven't owned a Dirt Devil before now will not hesitate to buy another.

3.0 out of 5 stars Powerfull but poorly made.., April 18, 2011

PROS: strong suction, brush roll

CONS: flimsy retractable crevice tool doesn't stay properly locked into place, brush roll pops off of the front of the unit with only a small amount of pressure, have to handle the dirty filter to empty unit properly

VERDICT: Purchase from a store such as Home Depot so that it's easier to return if you don't like it.

The best hand held vacuum I have ever used, the brush attachment works great on the carpet on the stairs.

Good: This products works well and is powerful enough to pickup most dirt/garbage.

Bad: It is a bit heavy and bulky. The crevices nozzle pulls out from the nose; but does not lock so when you vacuum it keeps going back in. You have stop, pull it out again and then continue.

What a great gadget. Could use a better storage design, a bit narrow in the front so it has a tendency to clog on dog hair. Nifty brush. Good vac performance. I use it for light duty work and it fits the need. Power brush assembly has a tendency to pop off since the plastic grip lock is not deep enough. Package designers should be forced to use the real product as delivered in real environments and they would improve it to make it a 5 star item.
