This review is from: Dirt Devil Turbo Canister Plus Bagged Canister Vacuum - SD30050 (Misc.)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The SD 30050 is a fairly inexpensive and unremarkable canister vacuum. Weighing in at 10lbs, you're not going to break your back carrying it up and down the stairs.
It comes with standard attachments and features: a telescopic chromed hose, a crevice tool, a small brush, a hardfloor tool, a rotating carpet brush and a small rotating brush. The power cord is self-winding and works well. It is equipped with a continuously variable power control on the canister as well as a bleed valve on the handle. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly considering its low price, the rotating brushes are powered by suction. In plain English, they stop rotating as soon as you start needing them, so they're completely useless for most serious tasks. Another weak point is the "onboard storage" for the tools: the manual attempts to convince you that it's reasonable to keep the small brush and the crevice tool clipped to a plastic piece which itself clips around the handle. I give it less than 10 minutes of vacuuming before the tools fall off, and maybe 10 more minutes before you throw them out of the window out of exasperation. The small rotating brush fits in its own spot on the top of the canister; I guess the designers ran out of bizarro storage ideas for the remaining brush. In terms of noise, it's about as loud as my previous Hoover canister vacuum which cost three times as much -- loud, but reasonably so. As another reviewer pointed out, it emits a fairly unpleasant chemical smell when you start using it. I suspect this will dissipate after a few uses. Bottom line, this is a very decent lightweight vacuum that is ideal for a small apartment with hard floors and no pets: the rotating brushes are useless, but the basic vacuum is pretty good. If you need rotating brushes, spend the extra money and get a vacuum with powered brushes.

This review is from: Dirt Devil Turbo Canister Plus Bagged Canister Vacuum - SD30050 (Misc.)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This lightweight and powerful vacuum cleaner takes up very little of the valuable space in your home, but with its variable speed motor it does quite an effective job. It's also fairly economically priced at about $130 or less at the time of this writing. It comes with all the attachments one would expect with any good vacuum and most of them can be conveniently stored on the handle. Dirt is stored in a disposable bag. The power cord can be retracted at the touch of a button. The large power button can be easily activated with your foot to save bending down. A quality and versatile item at an affordable price.

Actual vacumm is fine, but cord is EPIC FAIL.,
This review is from: Dirt Devil Turbo Canister Plus Bagged Canister Vacuum - SD30050 (Misc.)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The vacuum itself is good. Light, easy to use, has good suction, and uses an actual bag (so way healthier to use in the house). The cord system is really really bad. The cord on my unit went out once and never went back in. Only after reading the manual did they say not to extend the cord past some small piece of red tape on the cord. What?? Forget it, at this point. Who among us has never grabbed the vacuum trying to get one more inch or two out of the cord distance before going all the way back to unplug and re-plug in ?? This will of course result in the cord being stretched past "the point of no return" or the "little piece of red tape on the black cord". This is absolutely stunning inept design. Especially in a vacuum. If you want a model that has a retractable cord - then stay away here. If you don't care, then the vacuum is a fine choice. Just don't expect the cord to actually retract. OR - if you ever want an extra inch - you risk losing your retractable cord.
