5.0 out of 5 stars A Breeze to use
I really like this vacuum cleaner! It is so lightweight. The width enables me to vacuum between my dining room chair legs (I don't have to move all of the chairs away from the table). The suction power (12 amp) really deep cleans. The price is awesome! I recommend this vacuum to anyone!

3.0 out of 5 stars Too big to transport
My wife has a cleaning service with the same customers every week. I have been looking for the smallest, lightest, best working vacuum cleaner at any price with on board tools. Over the years I have been through at leased 20 different vacuums and the best one was a Sanitair SC785. She complained about how hard it was to push. This is why I decided to try the Dirt Devil...

I bought this vac to replace a Bissel because it is too heavy for me because I'm a stroke victim. In my opinion this vac works as good or better and it's much lighter than the Bissel. Oh, and the price is great.

I was also leery of ordering a vacuum online, but the other reviews are right, this is one great vac! Takes about 15 minutes' worth of easy assembly, VERY light, maneuvers easily, attachments basic and easy-to-use, and the suction is powerful. Definitely more than I expected for the price. Love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely A Satisfied Customer!, April 4, 2009

I was a bit leary about ordering a vacuum cleaner online but I could not resist. It was a great price and it works so much better than I could have imagined. It is a little bit louder than I expected but it gets the job done so I can deal with a little noise. I would definitely recommend this model for anyone who's tired of sweeping!!!

Excellent quality!
Excellent price!
Has excellent power to clean my high traffic areas.
I've owned a lot of vacuums- many of them costing much more than the Dirt Devil Featherlite. However, this one is the best value for the money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too big to transport, September 2, 2010
This review is from: Dirt Devil 085590 Featherlite Upright Vacuum Cleaner With Automatic Height Adjustment (Kitchen)
My wife has a cleaning service with the same customers every week. I have been looking for the smallest, lightest, best working vacuum cleaner at any price with on board tools. Over the years I have been through at leased 20 different vacuums and the best one was a Sanitair SC785. She complained about how hard it was to push. This is why I decided to try the Dirt Devil. This vacuum is made of thin brittle plastic and is large in size (the handle does not fold away). It is a little louder than most and I noticed a problem after the first day. The outside of the cabinet had a thin coat of dust on it and she told me that it spit dirt out the front on bare floors. Now we can't have this happen so I have another stand by vacuum. I am convinced that the perfect vacuum does not exist. That would be a 12" wide 12 amp Hepa filtered large bagged self propelled upright with a folding handle less than 10 lbs including attachments and a removable 50' cord . . dream on.

3.0 out of 5 stars How it picks up, January 3, 2010
This review is from: Dirt Devil 085590 Featherlite Upright Vacuum Cleaner With Automatic Height Adjustment (Kitchen)
This vacuum cleaner is very lightweight and is affordable! I love that about it. The only thing I am concerned about it that it only picks up in the backwards motion. I have to go over the same spot twice. When I go obver the spot in the backwards position that's when it picks up.

For a $39.95 vacuum cleaner, you wouldn't expect much, right? However, the Dirt Devil Featherlite delivers a level of performance that matches those hundred dollar vacuums easily. The bags are easy to find, U type, and they're easy to change. The vacuum is easy to maneuver and cleans well. For this price, you can't go wrong!

1.0 out of 5 stars Words cannot describe how much I hate this product, February 7, 2010

This review is from: Dirt Devil 085590 Featherlite Upright Vacuum Cleaner With Automatic Height Adjustment (Kitchen)
I think the name of this product "featherlite" was an inside joke between engineers/designers, who put this machine together at Dirt Devil. I don't believe the people who think this product is "light" and I are from the same planet. This vacuum feels and sounds more like a lawnmower than something you would use indoors. It doesn't suck well. It stinks up the apartment. The Miele vacuum of my mom's from early 1980s does a better job in every aspect possible. It is also SO big that it requires as large a closet space as most NYC apt. can have. I can't wait to toss it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dirt Devil Featherlite: Hose adapter to base unit easily cracks, January 17, 2010
This review is from: Dirt Devil 085590 Featherlite Upright Vacuum Cleaner With Automatic Height Adjustment (Kitchen)
Good buy for the price, but the hose adapter to the base unit easily cracks. The adapter is so flimsy and is weakened from holes for the latching, that it cracks after few uses and then pieces fall off so that it can't retain the connection during use.
