... The freaking handle broke... the belts have been replaced 3 times and now it is dead. By the way I have owned this vac for 2 years and I am a single 23 year old that NEVER VACUUMS!

I've owned this vacuum for less than 1 year. At first it seemed fine except the attachments kept falling off. Trying to find bags, and belts locally was a true challenge -- sold out or not stocked at all. It took me trips to 4 different stores and about 50 miles on my car to finally find size "U" bags.

Vacuuming on a bare floor is a joke - regardless of the bare floor setting.

Within a few months the suction slowly degraded (won't even pick up fuzz without going over it 20 times). The attached stretch hose started to stretch out so it won't stay on its hook any longer.

Finally, the last straw...the handle fell off! The handle which is held on by only 2 screws which screw into plastic tabs inside the main body. After about 6 months of pushing and pulling this thing the tabs finally gave out - cracked off inside the body.

I have tried contacting Dirt Devil but have been told over the phone that I must have been pulling too much and therfore I have abused the product. I was pulling as much as pushing..isn't that what you do with a vacuum cleaner?

It supposedly has a 2 year warranty. HogWash!

I've also tried contacting Dirt Devil though their web site and they won't respond.

This was a total waste of [$$] and is now held together with duct tape. I for one am going back to Hoover.

I bought this vacuum because it seemed to have it all, boy was I wrong. After only a few short months it was making a whistling noise every time it was on and it didn't suck very well at all. I constantly having to go over the same spots on the carpet just to get it clean. The attachments would keep falling off of it as I used it so finally I got so mad that I just kept those is a separate bag. The caster wheels were nice but to get it to go straight was a challenge. Spend more money and buy a {better vacuum}. I would give this 0 stars if it was allowed.

This vacuum turns on a dime. A wonderful vacuum. It made our traffic areas stand tall once again. I haven't used all of the attachments, yet. But, the hose is great and extends to the ceiling. I'm a shortie - so I need all the help I can get! All of the attachments have tight fitting places for them to stay put. The light is great and it is quieter than my old vacuum (but it still scares the cat!). I love this thing! BUY IT NOW!

I just recently purchased this vacuum and I LOVE IT! It glides over the floor so easily and is so easy to turn...It has the best suction for such a small vacuum..The filtration is an added plus for our household for allergies..Its a great value for your dollar!!

This vacuum cleaner is ALWAYS getting clogged. It was difficult to assemble. That makes replacing the belt extremely frustrating (yes, in one year it has needed several replacements). The onboard tools fall off.

Dirt Devil should pay me for the time and trouble this awful piece of junk has caused me. Buy something else.

I don't know why this vaccum has gotten these bad reviews. The people must be vaccum abusers or something. I've had this vaccum for years and neglect it often and it is still doing great. If it clogs they are super easy to get out and just today, about 4 years after I purchased it do I need to buy a new belt. For the price you won't find anything better. The attachments are great and it keeps my house nice and spify. We allmost sprung for a new one but I popped the hood and it was just a belt that needed replaced. (It's the first time I popped the hood after 4 years too) To get a clog out of the tube you can just take it off and give it a shake, if that doesn't work I put the end of my broom through it and the clog is gone. For a cheaper vaccum this one really does the job!!! I've even sucked up legos! This is the only one you will need.

I am very surprised by the negative comments. I have had it for 2 years and i've never had to replace the belt and the attachments are still intact. I think every vacuum needs longer hoses so I can't criticize this vacuum for that. I don't exactly baby the machine, I use it every day and it's been great. I have bought so many different vacuums, all different brands and they don't seem to last usually it's the fan near the motor that goes but thank God so far this one has been great.

I know why my mother always said to buy the [costly]machines ... This swivels beautifully, the attachments are easy to reach, it's not too heavy, it does a great job on carpets of various piles.

BUT, it performs poorly on floors. In 18 months I've lost count of the number of times we've replaced broken belts. The scuff guard fell off and we had to replace the brush/roller within a year because it broke. This all occured with once weekly use, I wasn't trying to [vaccuum] up banana peels!

This is great for a dorm room or your grad school apartment, but if you're looking for something to last, this isn't the machine for you. Save your shekels and buy an Electrolux.

I had the dirtdevil swivel glide for a little under a year. Before my misfortune I had been satisfied with this product and really did enjoy cleaning my home. However, a month ago and for some strange reason the vacuum picked up an odor that I just could not stomach. As any housewife would then do, I elected to have it serviced. I was told the vacuum only needed a belt and some general cleaning. Although,Low and behold when I went to pick up my very missed household helper I was told my vacuum cleaner was given to another customer in error. Was I ever furious. The dealer even had the nerve to ask me if I would settle for a used replacement. Using another person vacuum was strickly out of the question. I am certain you already know what my respone was to this suggestion. All I want for Christmas is my own vacuum or a new Dirtdevil swivel glide with the same features if not better, and no negotiation for a used subsitute, nor do I wish to bargan for a lessor model.The mistake that was made is not my problem. Doing without my vacuum cleaner is my problem. This is a situation that needs to be resoved ASAP by given me a new vacuum and not offering me a used replacement. Don't you agree? I welcome your comments.
