Good graphics better tracks,
By Mr. Wan (y) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dirt Track Racing 2 (CD-ROM)
DTR 2 has less tracks, only 14, but they are more detailed. Unfortunately there is not one "all out" track like Oldero. These tracks take more finesse to get around. Some new names in this one, some old names don't show back up, however all tracks showing up again are different and now you need to find the right racing lines again at all tracks.Car handling seems the same. Cars respond similar to before. Graphics are much better. There is more detail in cars, background, track, etc. A great improvement in that regard. Grandstands have individual people in them as compared to a mix of colors it was before. Unfortuantely I cannot get DTR or DTRSC tracks to show up on DTR 2. I think the software is incompatible. Hopefully developers will create new tracks you can get off internet soon, would like more tracks. Cars are lot faster. For Knoxville current record time is 14.06 with late model, with tweaking sure it will go down. Still haven't found consistent fast lane and setup is not really worked out. This was just minor tuning to resemble setup on DTR 1. Can imagine people can take 2 or more seconds off that time as time goes on and setups develop to get 12 second 1/2 mile track times or better. So the cars are unrealistically fast, even faster than WoO sprints. This makes it a more challenging game since stuff happens quicker, and difficult to drive with a keyboard because the limits of pushing a button as opposed to more control with a steering wheel really start to show up at these speeds. Don't care for supermodifieds, but they included them in the game. They are very ugly cars to begin with don't understand people's interest in them when they can play with the late models. Hey, it's not like you have to worry about money on a PC game like you do in real life. After I bought this game I think it was worth it however don't have the same enthusiasm as I did when I first bought DTR and later DTRSC. It's a rehash-how much can change? However I think that it is a better game than DTR 1, and worth buying even if you have DTR 1 and are real dirt track enthusiast as I am.

Dirt Track Racing gets better,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dirt Track Racing 2 (CD-ROM)
This is one of the best racing games of the year. It feels like your really racing in a dirt track. I bought this game because i enjoy going to local dirt track races. It has a career mode that puts you in a realistic run at a local dirt track championship. I really love the modifieds that they added, they are so cool, thats the main reason i got it because those are my favorite cars to watch at the dirt tracks. So if your into action packed dirt track racing this is the game for you.
