Still Some Kind of Wonderful,
By Bentley (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dirty Dancing: 20th Anniversary Edition (Audio CD)
Anyone who liked the movie will love this album. As the cover says: "have the time of your life." This edition finally features "all" of the music from the movie including the previously unreleased Gazebo Waltz.
There are 27 tracks (they are listed above) and who of us can believe that this movie was released twenty years ago. There is also a two disc dvd which is available with all sorts of features including the original screen tests for the movie. However, on this CD you will have to compensate yourself with the fantastic score of the move itself. Dirty Dancing, musically, became a super phenom when it came out. The original soundtrack hit number one in the album charts. In those days if an album sold a million copies, it was hot stuff. This one sold that amount in the first few weeks. A sequel came out and that brought the sales up to 20 million. That was just the album. Some of the singles on the album kept at the top of the charts for what seemed forever. This soundtrack was so loved because it represented the music of that time period and also of the setting. The movie was set in the summer of 1963 but it was released in 1987. The summer of 1963 coupled with the great sounds of the 80's are what made these albums soar. The music score is fantastic. There have been multi-platinum albums from this originally low budget film which to date has now grossed over $300 million dollars. The music is phenomenal and what makes it even more terrific is that it is altogether in one album. My two favorites are Hungry Eyes and I've Had The Time of My Life. But there is something for everyone here and this is another walk down memory lane. If you love the music of the 80's, you will love this album. Bentley/2008

I Bought this CD for my mother and she loves it. She plays it every day. My mom called me and told me it was the best CD she has had in a long time, I think its because she has watched the movie to many times to count.

Twenty years of Dirty Dancing!,
By andy8047 (Nokomis,Florida) - See all my reviews

The Vestron film DIRTY DANCING is already twenty years old,in the aspect of production. August 14 marks the twentieth anniversary of its theatrical release. This CD features at least most of the material from the two soundtrack albums, including MORE DIRTY DANCING. The most memorable track,of course,is the Bill Medley/Jennifer Warnes duet (I'VE HAD THE)TIME OF MY LIFE. For more information, chack my review of the DIRTY DANCING soundtrack CD.

If you're of a certain age, you can just picture Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze in one of the sexiest movies ever. Wow! Predictable story line but still sexy as ever.

Hungry Eyes Rocks,
This review is from: Dirty Dancing: 20th Anniversary Edition (Audio CD)
The best song on this project by far is Hungry Eyes by Eric Carmen. What a great track with background vocals from Pete Hewlitt and Rich Reising of the Euclid Beach Band Hungry Eyes makes buying this soundtrack worthwhile.

I enjoyed watching the movie and I loved the music that was in it. Especially, "I've Had the Time of My Life". That is my favorite song and I just had to have the CD. I did some research and this CD had all the songs from the movie on it. I couldn't wait for it to arrive. When it did, I listened to it and loved the quality of it. If you have the movie you will enjoy this CD to go with it.

Absolutely one of the best soundtracks EVER! It's a super selection of great songs, with only one "ringer": "You Don't Own Me" is a remake, while all the others are originals. It is beyond comprehension why the producers didn't use Leslie Gore's original of this song, since everything else is an original hit recording. Otherwise, this is a wonderful album.
