No one can deny that Dirty Dancing contained great music that really made you want get up and have some fun. This colledtion combines both soundtrack albums released (Dirty Dancing / More Dirty Dancing) with a few bonus tracks previously not available and a small booklet.
Of the bonus tracks, only the extended movie version of "Time Of My Life" is worth much intrest. It's a bit odd that the radio version isn't included as well, but it is nice to hear the full length song for once. The other bonus tracks are instrumental versions of "Time Of My Life" that are actually excerpts from the score instead of full length dubs. One runs 41 seconds, the other 58 seconds. My one real gripe with the set is that the total running time of both CD's is just about 75 minutes. That's just enough to fit on one disc and should have been done to save the consumer some money. Also it would've been nice to have the songs presented in the order they appeared in the film.
The discs are stored in the front and back flaps of a hard bound CD book with a 24 page booklet between them. The booklet has many stills from the film (most retouched through a colored filter) and a few behind the scenes shots as well. I would've liked to see a directors note or an overview of the "Dirty Dancing" phenomonon, but overall the packaging is done very well and only enhaces the feel of a special collectors item.
I've awarded four stars because there's just not enough offered for someone who already owns both soundtracks and is not a manic fan of the film like myself.

If you enjoyed the movie Dirty Dancing, you will love the soundtrack. This cd is one that can change your mood with just a minute of listening. If you are not having a very upbeat day and you listen to any of the songs found on this cd you will often find yourself tapping your feet or snapping you fingers to the beat. Each of the songs have a different tempo, and each one can meet the mood you are in. The musical style also varies from song to song. Personally, I love this soundtrack and it is one that i play a lot. Everyone I have recommended this cd to also finds it very enjoyable. The songs are not "hard rock" but yet the are not "classical". It has a variety of all time good songs. If you are looking for a cd that can put you in an upbeat mood instantly, go get Dirty Dancing.

Where in the world can you get such a great combination of old and new and enjoy it so much? That's what this soundtrack offers: a little bit of something for everyone. Again, the movie without the soundtrack would have just been a movie - but it's the music that made it a hit. Another "must own" soundtrack!

Dirty Dancing brings back many good memories. It truly is a wonderful film in that it does'nt come across as a routine, sloppy production like so many love stories can be. What compliments the ethos of the film is the sizzling soundtrack. The story in the film is set in the 1960's though the majority of it's soundtrack are tracks recorded in the 1980's and they do admitedly sound very distinctive to that era but never the less it still makes for a tremendously enjoyable soundtrack. I've Had The Time Of My Life is a song that forever will be associated with Dirty Dancing and it's an absolutley magnificent recording at that. as the song plays you almost visualise the triumphant climax of the film where Patrick swayze and Jennifer grey do some electricifying dancing. Be my Baby is a fantastic soul classic sung by the highly underated group, The Ronettes where as Patrick Swayze surprisingly puts in a stunning and powerful performance on the breathtakingly beautiful, She's Like's The Wind. Hungry Eyes is another stand out track. With it's beautiful musical arrangements and a fabulous performance from Eric Carmen, the tack is quite simply a classic - a vastly underated one1 Every track on here is an absolute clasic with main highlights being glorious soul classics like Stay by William and Maurice, the silly butfun Love Is Strange, Overload and more contemporary recordings like the swinging, Yes and the totally magnificent, Where Are You Tonight? Superb recordings all round from an equally superb, classic movie. Highly Recommended!

This has got to be the best double cd ever. It is totally worth the money. Even if you have the soundtrack, you should buy it just for the unreleased version of I've had the time of my life from the movie. When I listen to it I relive all the great moments from the movie. There is not one song on there that I don't like. I recommend it to all the dirty dancing fans out there or some one who just likes good music.

I've had the time of my life listening to this CD! Some people may like Korn and some people may like Motzart, but you just can't replace the good ol' oldies in this soundtrack. Some song from the movie aren't on the soundtrack which would be the only reason that i don't give this a five star reveiw! I love this soundtrack and when you hear it you just want to get up and dance! it is just the best thing that i have heard since the soundtrack animal house, there are no bad songs on this soundtrack, you will love it and it is a great christmas gift! Have the time of your life! Again
