Book Description

March 30, 2010
Karen Williams, author of Harlem on Lock and The People Vs. Cashmere, brings you this dark street tale. Follow the highs and lows of Cha, Goldie, and Red, who come together for fun, laughs, and sometimes treachery in Long Beach, California. For these three ladies, survival was always about getting over by using lies, deceit, and sex. But when a plan goes dangerously wrong, Cha and Goldie take a step back out of the life. Cha desperately wants to rid herself of the demons of her past so she can at least feel normal enough to raise her son, Omari. Goldie ain't feeling the hood life anymore. She's tired of going from man to man, and knows her parents are rolling over in their graves at the life she chose for herself. Red craves the streets, and will cross anyone, friends included, to get what she wants. She steps deeper in the game, making her dirtier than she already is--so dirty that she will betray both Cha and Goldie, leading to horrifying consequences. Dirty to the Grave goes harder than Karen Williams has ever gone, with an explosive ending that will shock you and make you wonder: Are your friends really your friends? They say life is hard from the cradle to the grave, and once you think people can't get any dirtier, they do!

4.0 out of 5 stars `I Don't Care What People Say About Me...', June 12, 2010

This review is from: Dirty to the Grave (Paperback)
Dirty To The Grave chronicles the lives of three friends, Cha, Goldie, and Red and the true essence of their friendship, especially when a snake is ready to strike for no apparent reason other than genuine wickedness.

Red suffered horrendous abuse from her bitter white mother as a child because of her black father's abandoning them. Cha was an orphan raised in a group home who found hope in a major baller named Onyx. Onyx introduced Cha to real love and she in turn gave him a son named Onari, the night of their dreams spoken aloud was poisoned by enemies within his camp. Goldie was raised by her strong, educated mother whose life was snuffed out before her very eyes because of Goldie's innocent, immature actions by the police. Hustling ballers for their dough is this trio's game plan and they take their schemes seriously until the depth and danger causes them to take a second look at their lives.

Karen Williams has created one of the most malevolent and vilest characters that I've ever read about and she's of the female gender which is even more astonishing. The title breeds intrigue and the characters with their burdensome baggage lure you in with the grit and grime these young ladies encounter on a daily basis. Dirty to the Grave embodies sexual immorality, lies, cunning, betrayal, violence, insanity, murder, and so many more sentiments that you will be emotionally spent by the time you complete this story. I've read and relished each of Karen Williams' reads immensely but I have to give her the highest praise for this masterpiece. She executed greater heights with the depiction and development of this superbly written novel. Major kudo's to you ma'am! Kudo's! 4.50****

4.0 out of 5 stars DIRTY TO THE GRAVE, August 13, 2010

This review is from: Dirty to the Grave (Paperback)
These Girls had some serious issues, Red, she just didnt give a dayum.. Now she should have had that title "DIRTY RED", from the time her moma spit her out, she had issues.. All because of a white women dealing with a black man... If you loved someone so much, why would you take it out on your child. Red should have Tortured her moma, like her moma tortured her. But because of the abuse at the hand of her mother, Red was damaged goods. Cha, she too was damaged at birth, her moma tossed her in the dumpster when she was born. Sent to Foster care where she was sexually abused by the foster parents and their kids. The only good thing in her life was Onyx, and Omari, but after Onyx boyz Killed him and raped Cha, she was no more good. She continued getting raped in this book, even at the end she was raped by justice. She should have thought more about raising her child than doing dirty deeds with Red and Goldie. Now Goldie, she had it made in life up until her mother was killed by a Cop. All Because of a racist cop being jealous of Goldie mother being educated and Black. This book was very good and as these girls grew up life just got harder for them. Karen Williams you did a great job with this book. And the Title Fits just Perfect... "DIRTY TO THE GRAVE"
