This review is from: Dirty to the Grave (Paperback)
Dirty To The Grave chronicles the lives of three friends, Cha, Goldie, and Red and the true essence of their friendship, especially when a snake is ready to strike for no apparent reason other than genuine wickedness.

Red suffered horrendous abuse from her bitter white mother as a child because of her black father's abandoning them. Cha was an orphan raised in a group home who found hope in a major baller named Onyx. Onyx introduced Cha to real love and she in turn gave him a son named Onari, the night of their dreams spoken aloud was poisoned by enemies within his camp. Goldie was raised by her strong, educated mother whose life was snuffed out before her very eyes because of Goldie's innocent, immature actions by the police. Hustling ballers for their dough is this trio's game plan and they take their schemes seriously until the depth and danger causes them to take a second look at their lives.

Karen Williams has created one of the most malevolent and vilest characters that I've ever read about and she's of the female gender which is even more astonishing. The title breeds intrigue and the characters with their burdensome baggage lure you in with the grit and grime these young ladies encounter on a daily basis. Dirty to the Grave embodies sexual immorality, lies, cunning, betrayal, violence, insanity, murder, and so many more sentiments that you will be emotionally spent by the time you complete this story. I've read and relished each of Karen Williams' reads immensely but I have to give her the highest praise for this masterpiece. She executed greater heights with the depiction and development of this superbly written novel. Major kudo's to you ma'am! Kudo's! 4.50****

4.0 out of 5 stars DIRTY TO THE GRAVE, August 13, 2010

This review is from: Dirty to the Grave (Paperback)
These Girls had some serious issues, Red, she just didnt give a dayum.. Now she should have had that title "DIRTY RED", from the time her moma spit her out, she had issues.. All because of a white women dealing with a black man... If you loved someone so much, why would you take it out on your child. Red should have Tortured her moma, like her moma tortured her. But because of the abuse at the hand of her mother, Red was damaged goods. Cha, she too was damaged at birth, her moma tossed her in the dumpster when she was born. Sent to Foster care where she was sexually abused by the foster parents and their kids. The only good thing in her life was Onyx, and Omari, but after Onyx boyz Killed him and raped Cha, she was no more good. She continued getting raped in this book, even at the end she was raped by justice. She should have thought more about raising her child than doing dirty deeds with Red and Goldie. Now Goldie, she had it made in life up until her mother was killed by a Cop. All Because of a racist cop being jealous of Goldie mother being educated and Black. This book was very good and as these girls grew up life just got harder for them. Karen Williams you did a great job with this book. And the Title Fits just Perfect... "DIRTY TO THE GRAVE"

This book was sooo good. I have read every book that Karen has written and have loved them all. She has done it again. I could not put this book down, i was at my job, trying to sneak and read this book. Oh my goodness, i started off feeling sorry for Red and at the end i wanted kill that chick myself. I wanted to just take care of Cha, because she was a sweetheart, who just could not catch a break. Miss Goldie was my girl and i loved her character. You need to pick this one up. I am now waiting on the next book, because i know Karen is going to bring it once again. If i could, i would give this book 100 stars. I absolutely loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dirty!!, October 9, 2011
This review is from: Dirty to the Grave (Paperback)
Finally I'm taking the time to due a review for this story. This story is about 3 young beautiful girls and all the havoc they wreak. Ms. Williams took a walk on the wild side with this one. This is a more dark work that exposed the immorality in people. The stuff that happened in this story was just plain out crazy. Red was so dirty that she was inhumane. She did'n't have a care for anyone not even her girls and what she did to her neighbor was crazy. I cried for Cha and Goldie was my girl. I just wished Cha could of got herself together. It was a quick read and I was left wanting more.

This book was not good. At all. The story was over the top, highly unbelievable and barely made any sense! Clearly anyone can get a deal and publish a book these days. I read a lot of great books and this is not one of them!

I guess I have read too many street lit books because this book is just like the other one. 3 girls that start out a best friends one of them is secretely jealous or treacherous of one of the crew members something bad happens and the traitor gets hers in the end. Its always like that. I just feel that she could have went deeper. Im a fan of hers and this is my least favorite book of hers

Dirty To The Grave is about three friends, Cha, Goldie, and Red. Cha was raised in foster care while Red endured abuse by her mother and Goldie witnessed her mother's murder by the very ones who is supposed to be there to protect us and serve.

Feeling that life dealt them a dirty hand, the girls decided the hustling game was the best thing for them. Everything is going according to plan until death comes a knocking and causes the girls to take a second look at the way they're living their lives. This book is edgy, sexy and of course dirty, but there were some moments in this book that were sort of over the top. Red was anything but a friend. I had to see how the book was going to pan out and I must say that the dirty b***h got what she deserved.

4.0 out of 5 stars spoiler alert, June 28, 2010

This review is from: Dirty to the Grave (Paperback)
I really did like this book. The plot was killer, the personalities contrasted so much that they only complimented each other so you could really get to know the characters. Goldie, Cha and Red's story was really hot. However, I do have a few issues here and there. First, while the main character development was boss, the supporting characters, I feel, needed a little more details. Case and point, Goldie is not going to come up in Blues spot and pistol-whip people and just get away with that. I need to know why a killer made no moves to do what he does. Also, I had a hard time reading the story at points because some paragraphs just seemed like they were missing vital sentences. Ms. Williams is a grand writer but some stuff I had to figure out on my own and the benefit of reading a book rather than watching a movie is you get more Intel on whats really going on.

Finally, my biggest issue and the only reason I did not give this book five stars was Red. After all the dirt she did I don't think it was believable the way she went down. Come on, Goldie gets at old girl then just so happens that everyone she has beef with shows up one after the other to do her in. I mean really it just too coincidental. No I didn't want her to get off but I need something more realistic than that. I'm sitting reading and saying, "really? That's how you doing it? Really?" I understand that was supposed to be dramatic and she was supposed to get pay back for all her dirt but it was doing too much. And I don't buy her being burned alive in the middle of the street with what seemed like 50 people watching. I know Ms. Williams didn't want Goldie to kill Red because then she couldn't be with the officer and would end up in prison but it would have been better if you had Goldie be just as dirty as Red (just to show that she got that in her but opts not to be as grimy as Red) and have her kill Red in private and she just never get busted. It just really bothered me. I plan on reading this again after I get it back from the people on my waiting list to borrow it from me. I just have to warn them to let that part slide.
