5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME
This album is a huge step-up from "Hatchet Warrior", in my opinion. That was a really good album aswell, but this is an awesome album. ABK can actually sing really well also. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this album to all juggalos!

After hearing the songs abk had on from outer space 2 like the song warrior I was really anticipating his new cd. But now after listening to it a couple times I hate to say it liks ballz. For starters there are really no stand out tracks and all of his songs are so predictable, This was a big let down as I know abk can write great songz hopefully next album he puts it on...

4.0 out of 5 stars ABK keeps bringin' the flavor with 'Dirty History'..., August 20, 2005
By
This review is from: Dirty History (Audio CD)
Let me say first off: I don't get why ABK recieves so much hate from juggalos. IMO he's a real cool person to have on Psy. He's different, alot different than what you'd usually hear, and he fits in perfect with the mix of things. Also, he wasn't as bad on TFTLP as juggalos make him out to be...but anyway, back to this review.

For the most part ABK's debut on Psy, 'Hatchet Warrior', was well-recieved by most juggalos. It had alot of guest spots & such so I'm not sure if that's what drew most people in or if they were actually listening to ABK's vocals. Anyway, I think that's sort of the reason why this album wasn't as well-recieved.

'Dirty History', ABk's sophmore effort, is mostly just ABK. Yeah it has all the Psy family teaming up on parts of it but it dives alot deeper into ABK holding his own without having a guest spot on every track. The CD kind of flows together all-the-way through, too, and that might be why some people dislike it.

Here's my breakdown of 'Dirty History':

1. Intro - Alright intro. Sets the mood well for the album. N/A

2. Bombs on You - Real average intro-ish track. Sort of similiar to #2 on 'Hatchet Warrior' in the fact that it seems like its just an intro-track or something. Not really worth hearing IMO. 2/5

3. Stick and Move - Now here's when the album kicks off. Nice track with some a good, hard chorus. ABK holds it down on this track & if you've peeped the Road Fools DVD there's a real low-budget video shot for this one. 4/5

4. Down Here (feat. Violent J) - Interesting concept. ABK & J do well together but this track has always seemed kind of boring or something to me. Good to hear, though, cuz I know alot of people like it. 3/5

5. Gimmie Ah Beat - I love this track. It makes me think of freestyle beatboxin' or something. It sounds real fresh and ABK spits some hot ish for like 2 verses. The skit at the end is funny, too, and a nice segway into #6. 5/5

6. Party at the Liquor Store (feat. Colton Grundy) - When I first picked up this LP I loved this track. Now its kind of wore out on me. Blaze (Colton Grundy) is dope as f**k on this track & its always good to hear ABK & Blaze together. There's another low-budget video shot for this one on the Road Fools DVD, as well. 3.5/5

7. Hey Yall - The "single". Amazing track. Killa really goes deep in this one. There's a video shot for this one & its dope...NOT low-budget, too, looks like a real video (a good quality one, anyways). 5/5

8. Retaliate (feat. Twiztid) - Good track. A Twiztid appearence is always good no matter what & ABK holds his own here. Mono is really dope on this track BTW. 4/5

9. Trees and Woods - I'm not sure what to think about this. It seems like it would be good but its so slow-moving I can't stand listening to it. Shows some depth but once again its way too slow for me to stand. 2/5

10. Nevehoe (feat. Shaggy 2 Dope) - Nice native feel...again. Anyway, Killa's fresh on here, but Shaggs verse is really strange. "Your new name is vittle fingers/cuz you're a bank account rapist tryin 2 steal my dinners"...o_O. Not sure what to think after that. 3.5/5

11. Laugh at You - Probably my fav. off the album just becuase this one I can really, REALLY relate to. The whole "outcast, freekshow" theme applies here, and once again, its really easy for me to relate. I really like the part at the end, too, where the kids are screaming "THEY'RE ALL GONNA LAUGH AT YOU!"... 5/5

12. It Doesn't Matta (feat. Colton Grundy & Esham) - Another fav. of mine. The beat is SICK & this is another in-depth performance from Killa. Blaze's verse is unbelievably good & Esham sticks to the hook, which is probably for the best since both ABK's verses & Blaze's are untouchable on here. 5/5

13. Oh No - Meh. Skippable. That's all I can say. 2/5

14. Charlie Brown (feat. Violent J) - Well, this one is the worst on the album. Really, really, really annoying hook & unless you're as high as they are you're not gonna like it. This is like "Mr. Sesame Seed Pt. 2" as well & that's a really bad thing. 1/5

15. Put My Life on It - Back to fresh sh*t. Another good lyrical performance from ABK. 4/5

16. Can't Help It - Same as above ^. Another good lyrical performance & the hook is pretty hard too. Good sh*t. 4/5

17. 2 Whom This May Concern - Really good ending track. This one's a real good ballad-type track. Like sombody said before it sounds like a mix of "Nothing's Left" & "I'm Alright". Also another low-budget video of this is featured on Road Fools. 5/5

So, overall, I'm not gonna say this was better than HW, but I still liked it. Definitely not as bad as alot of juggalos make it out to be...

The low-points are really low on here, but the high-points are all 5/5 tracks. So yeah, definitely an album worth adding to your Psy. collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Steppin his gam up!, April 5, 2007
This review is from: Dirty History (Audio CD)
Dirty History is an awesome album and a big step up from Hatchet Warrior, which was still decent in it's own right. For me the highlight of this album is Hey Ya'll. I can't even begin to tell you all how big of an ROC fan I am and his production absolutely shines on that track. Down Here, Bombs On You, Trees And Woods, Retaliate, Party At The Liquor Store, and Put My Life On It are all awesome songs. The only ones on here I didn't care much for were Nevahoe and Charlie Brown. Definetly pick this up if your into Psychopathic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best of ABK to this date, October 28, 2005

Dirty History is ABK's true solo album. I felt like Hatchet Warrior had too much influence from other artists, and this album has just the right balance of title artist material as well as guest artist material. On great thing about ABK and AMB that people don't like, is that they can sing. I think a great singer/rapper has a better advantage over those who just rap. ABK has a very unique voice and personality which is very very important when you want to obtain success. Now that ABK is back with Psychopathic, I believe he can really help the label regain the popularity. Some of the stuff that has come out lately hasn't been that mentionable. ABK could change that.

2. Bombs on You- nothing to shout about. It's an ok song, kind of dreary.

3. Stick and Move- I used to love this song. It made me wanna mosh. It's still a good song it just doesn't have many replays.

4. Down Here- About the same as Bombs on You. Nothing too special.

5. Gimme Ah Beat- Something really different for Psychopathic. Great, great song! I love it, and its great to see live A+

6. Party at the Liquor Store- No. Don't like it. No flavor here.

7. Hey Yall- Good song. His first single and music video. Has good lyrical meaning, but not a favorite of mine.

8. Retaliate- I just started listening to this again. It's a really dope song. The effort from ABK, Mono, and Jamie is really solid. Wicked ShXt Right here.

9. Trees and Woods- See I told you ABK can sing. Kind of a slow song, but this really shows what ABK is all about. Good highlight on the CD.

10. Nevehoe- Naw don't bother. The tie-ins with the Native American culture isn't really thought out. Shaggy doesn't do any justice to the song.

11. Laugh at you- One of the best songs on the CD. I really felt this song through high school. I love ABK without guest artists.

12. It Doesn't Matta- Another song I don't care for. A little depressing. Just doesn't bump for me.

13. Oh No- Argueably the best song on the CD. This is the first track that really caught me. I love the aggression and the singing. Awesome to see live.

14. Charlie Brown- Good stoner song. I first took it as a joke song, but it really is a decent song. I like it.

15. Put My Life On It- ABK has a lot of ambition, which is really inspiring. Dirty History kind of has the feeling of thriving for success. I feel that.

16. Can't Help It- eh. It's not good or bad. Decent production, but it's only a good one to see live.

17. 2 Whom this May Concern- Way much better than his last exiting track. It's original and appropriate to the material. Thank you ABK.

4.0 out of 5 stars the killa strikes again, April 27, 2005
This review is from: Dirty History (Audio CD)
I think abk is one of the best rappers to perform under psychopathic records. He is one of the rappers that is not reconized too well either If you listen to him you should know how good his music is He raps about his native american heritage which is something anybody should do This cd is not as good as hatchet warrior but it still has alot of good songs Some of the best songs on the cd are bombs on you which is a great intro song, stick and move, down here, party at the liquor store, hey yall which you can buy as a single, retaliate featuring twiztid, nevehoe feat shaggy, it doesnt matta feat colton grundy, and laugh at you. I usually stick to listening to icp and twiztid but when i first listened to this i was like holy f*ck this sh*t is awesom so if your a juggalo you should definetly buy this and belive me you wont regret it. 4.0 out of 5 stars ABK steps it up., August 21, 2004
By
Frostbite (Buffalo, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dirty History (Audio CD)
Wow. I had extremely low expectations for this album, I really did. Hatchet Warrior was barely passable, and judging by tracks like "Stayin' Alive" off PFOS2, I thought for sure this was an avoidable CD. And when I heard "Oh No," I thought there was no hope at all.

Imagine my surprise when, at the Gathering, ABK stole the show with his performance, and played some tracks off the album that sounded...GOOD. I was stunned, so I hopped over top the Merch Tent and picked up a copy. My, oh my. How ABK has improved.

His raps are still nothing spectacular, but with excellent beats, better subject matter, and less of the constant Juggalo praise (Hey, far be it from me to say that's horrible, but it got sickening on Hatchet Warrior.) ABK shines like he hasn't since his Krazy Klan days. Here's my track-by-track review.

Intro: Decent. Ties in great with the cover art. But nothing spectacular. 2.5/5

Bombs on You: I really wasn't digging it very much, but not bad in any way. 3/5

Stick and Move: Great. This song live was absolutely perfect, and can really get people moving. 4/5

Down here: Good stuff. Violent J does a great job, showcasing his ever improving talent. 4/5

Gimmie Ah Beat: Wow. ABK can Beatbox? Not bad at all, and EXTREMELY catchy. I'm even gonna give it a 5, if purely for the surprise of ABK being able to beatbox and the catchy-factor. 5/5

Party at the Liquor Store: Drive By NEEDS to happen. Whenever ABK and Blaze team up, it's pure gold. They compliment each other perfectly, and this track is no exception. 5/5

Hey Y'all: Gold. Platinum. Amazing. I believe they said something of him making a video for this? I hope so, because this is most likely the best song on the album, and what convinced me to buy it when he performed it live. The beat is stellar, and overall it earns a 5/5

Retaliate: This song gets me really hyped up for some reason. Twiztid schools it, as always, and it gets a good 4/5

Trees and Woods: Slower song, but well executed. A few parts drag a bit TOO much, though. Still one of the tracks that I was initially drawn to, and gets a 4/5

Nevahoe: Shaggy's sloppy...again. Jokers cards and Rydas he always does so well? Why can't he always make like "Do It," the track that saved PFOS2? But he still has the perfect voice for screaming and yelling, and him saying "STAY UP OFF IT" makes the track good enough alone. 3/5

Laugh at You: Remeniscent of older ICP tracks. About killing your classmates who pick on you. A bit short, could have used a few more verses, but still great. Especially love the ending. 4.5/5

It doesn't matta: ABK and Blaze again. Nuff said. 5/5

Oh No: The title of this track says it all. Avoid. 1/5

Charlie Brown: Mr. Sesame Seed Part 2. Interesting the first listen through, but...just...skip over it after that. 2/5

Put my life on it: Great track, wonderful chorus and beat. Stands out as a good one, to me. 5/5

Can't Help it: Not bad. ...And not a whole lot else to say about this track. 4/5

2 Whom it may Concern: Stellar ending track. Feels like a sort of mix of "I'm Alright" and "Nothings Left." The female vocals are wonderful, and ABK performing this paintless was truly wonderful. 5/5

As I said, ABK's stepped up from the smoking heap that was Hatchet Warrior, and delivered a good album. Not an amazing one, but a good one. Give it a listen before you buy, but if you're a juggalo, new or old, I'd recommend this.
