wonderful.,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Paperback)
Not being any sort of trained musician, except self-trained, perhaps I don't have the proper authority to state this, but of course I'm going to anyway: this book is wonderful. The piano parts are very involved and reflect the original score. Vocal harmonies are included in the songs where applicable, and even selections that normally one wouldn't think would be in a vocal book (i.e. 'Great Big Stuff') are included.
In response to the other reviewer, this is the sort of show that is spoiled by reading a synopsis. I highly reccommend buying a ticket, either to the ongoing New York production or to the upcoming tour- you won't be disappointed.

Pretty Darn Close to a Vocal Score,
This review is from: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Paperback)
Vocal Scores for modern musicals aren't published because if they were, there'd be so many illegal productions of musicals. However, the vocal selections from scores are published. While these are nice, most of the time, several songs are omitted. However, thankfully, almost the entire score of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, one of the best 2005 musicals, is included. The piano arangements are similar to the orchestral parts and most harmonies are in the book.
I'm very pleased. Thank you Hal Leonard and David Yazbek.

Acceptable songbook from a show,
By D. A. Paterson "never convicted of a capital ... (Ottawa, ON Canada) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Paperback)
This collection is fine for fans of the show; the scoring has been only moderately adjusted, so it's not for two-finger pianists. While there is a bio of David Yazbek and four pages of photos, this volume lacks a plot synopsis, which would help those not familiar with the show to place the songs in context.
