It's a Zeke album. What else do you want to know?,
By James Burns (Bellingham, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dirty Sanchez (Audio CD)
On first listen, I scoured the booklet looking for a vocal credit to Seth Putnam of A.C. or Jon Kelson of Calvin Krime. The biggest difference from the previous three (four if you count the new singles comp, "Pinstriping The Dutchman's Coffin") is that Blind Marky has totally renovated his vocal style, going from the fast-paced barks of old into all out screaming pulled straight from the grooves of a Slap-A-Ham "Bleeeaaauurrgh!" compilation. Other than that, it's the same ol' Zeke. The songs are getting a bit longer, with only four or five missing the one minute mark, but the thrash songs still shred and the slow songs still swing. A hilarious cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon" is included, complete with Marky transforming the chorus into "Rhiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaugh!" A good Zeke albums, but this one is most likely only for the fans. "Flat Tracker" is a much better place to start.

New Gods of Rock,

At first listen I thought, "Ahhh! What has Zeke done to themselves! " But the second through eighteenth listenings showed me how great these guys have gotten. The screaming gets a little out of hand on a couple track, but this is their best work yet. A fun 22 minute sprint through the life of Zeke.

Just Buy It!,
This review is from: Dirty Sanchez (Audio CD)
The Kings of Seattle return with a record that could make Lemmy cry. Every song is the best song. Imagine all 3 of the previous Zeke albums combined and you pretty much get the picture. If you need that defined for you: Motorhead on speed with battery acid vocal chords, screaming blues infulenced guitars, pummeling mach 1 billion drums, and solid bass (quitter!). This is it for punk fans, metal fans, garage fans, AC/DC fans, even Fleetwood Mac fans ("Rhiannon" never sounded so . . . beautiful). Zeke have outdone themselves this time around and this album takes no prisoners. Rip And Destroy, boys!

In honor of the brevity of most of the songs on "Dirty Sanchez," I've decided to keep my review brief. The songs are extremly short, extremely fast, and extremely intense in every way. It redeems rock and roll in so many ways. If that doesn't appeal to you, go die you hippie scum.

Probably the best thing that Epitaph ever put out.,

How did Zeke ever get signed to the label anyway? Well, you won't hear any third-rate Bad Religion/NOFX clone music, just rippin' hardcore punk with great fast riffs. They even managed to make a Fleetwood Mac song kick ass (there's an unlisted cover of "Rhiannon" at the end of the CD).
