I like all of the songs that fill the gaps between "Reelin in the years" and "Do it again". I had this album before as an LP record and had not listened to it for 20 years. The fusion of jazz and rock that Steely Dan is famous for started here on this album. At the time country rock was in vogue and they touch on that in, "Brooklyn". The studio musicians like Jeff Baxter really add a punch to this first offering. This record is important as well for the lyrics that talk about the change that was going on at the time. We were all kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop at the end of the Vietnam war, Watergate and the end of the counterculture. This was the begining of a prolific band that is still going strong forty years later.

Love Steely Dan and got this as a freedown load for my MP3. Also downloaded it on my I-Phone NIce surprise, as a free gift for ordering items. Would like to see more efforts like these.
Thanks Amazon!

The masters of smooth, lounge act-sounding songs are at it again. Has a slightly different feel from most of their pop-ier hits, but a very good song, nonetheless.

This was the group's first album and it is a great one. It should definitely be owned by any Steely Dan fan.
