This is my favorite album from disappear fear.,

I was first introduced to disappear fear by friends in Kansas City. I saw one show and I was hooked. Their music speaks directly to my soul. Perhaps you have an artist or two in your mind who consistently makes music that you like-music that you instantly like upon hearing it for the first time. This is what disappear fear is to me. In particular, this album is my favorite (I have them all). I like the diversity of musical styles across the album. I also find the tunes catchy-something to sing along to and keep in my head. And, as always, Sonia's lyrics are eloquent and poetic. So, have a listen. I hope they touch you the same way.

This CD is a reissue of a cassette that I had from a long time ago. Released in 1994, this is an excellent album. The lead singer is Sonia Rutstein, who also componsed most of the music.
This album has a political message, and includes songs such as "Washington Work Week" and "Is There Anybody Here" as well as poignant ballads such as "The Missing Song." Highly recommended

Good music, "catchy," thoughtful lyrics, positive (not Pollyannish) perspective. I caught Sonia solo at a Phiol Ochs tribute last fall. By halfway through her performanceof "Is There Anybody Here?" I knew I had to hear more.So in December I picked up this CD. It and Gary Gordon's Smoking Gun Cafe were my companions for a week and several hundred miles of Florida highways in a rental car. I became a fan. So my first suggestion is to get this CD. Get it now. Then consider some of the other disappear fear/Sonia releases. If you have a chance to see Sonia perform (not unlikely, as she has been touring quite a bit) I recommend you do so - with or without her sister, the band, or what/whoever. |
