Book Description

Ever Wonder What Would Happen If Your Girl Disappeared ?

Karen Glass, an American high school graduate, is visiting a Kibbutz in Northern Israel. She meets Mikki who lives in the Kibbutz and they become passionately involved. On her birthday, while they are on a tour of the Golan Heights, she suddenly disappears from Mikki's car.

The police official investigation is abandoned under questionable circumstances; the motive for the presumed kidnapping is unknown and Karen's fate remains a mystery.

Three years later, during an Israeli military raid into Southern Lebanon, a special-forces unit stumbles upon a photo of Karen at the time of her kidnapping. Mikki alerts Karen's sister Lisa, and together they begin a perilous journey across three continents searching for clues that will shed light on the mystery.

They uncover a dark family secret that undermines a plot to prevent a global enterprise from developing illegal weapons....

"DISAPPEARANCE" will capture you instantly, keep you on your toes and leave you speculating until the final minute.....

Another great book by Niv Kaplan:

Editorial Reviews

Review

"...A perfect combination of suspense, action and romance. Kaplan's attempt to illustrate his characters' reality allows the reader to join them on crowded streets, long stakeouts and feel the dread they feel in certain situations. It turns the experience more realistic, such that thriller novel lovers like to read. Disappearance is a good book; actually it is very good..." - BOOKWATCH
"...Kaplan knows his trade well and leads the reader breathless along more than five hundred pages of intelligent and skillful writing without releasing the tension, not for one moment. I'll risk it and say this is the best thriller I've read in several months". - Amnon Jacont (Israeli Author)
"The book "Disappearance" is accompanied by a thesis that Civilian companies manufacturing weapons will do anything to accomplish their economic goals including kidnapping and murder. It will not be something out of the ordinary but for the author being himself part of this industry and from first impression, and even second and third, he's actually shooting himself in the foot..." - Yedioth Tel Aviv - Itai Ilnai
"I read it! In one wonderful weekend. An amazing book that will fill your weekend or holiday with delight." - Portal 1909, Tom Edisman
"Kaplan wrote "Disappearance" over a period of five years and the thorough work paid off. I read "Disappearance" in one week along with all my other obligations. From the moment I started reading it I could not put it down. This is exactly what I expect from a thriller." - Pop Tarts -Effi Trigger

From the Author

This novel has waited a very long time to be published and could not&;nbsp;have&;nbsp;been written without the love and patience of my family and friends.
Though the characters are fictional, they are all shadows of my life.
5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping Well Written "Different" Story July 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found this a well written and gripping story about something very different to the regular Airport book. The setting is described so that you can almost be there and the characters easily recognizable. The story flows and I quite literally, could not put the book down. I suppose my long term military career made the book appealing to me as I could relate quite easily to the various plots. A great first novel from a writer I expect to see more of.

3.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars for plot; 1 star for grammar, syntax, etc. August 31, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I almost did not finish this book due to the amazing number of mistakes in grammar, syntax and spelling - "repetuar" instead of "repertoire," for instance; "keeping taps" instead of "keeping tabs"; "Mousse Chocolate" (with the capital letters) instead of chocolate mousse (a classic mistake by Israelis writing or speaking English, since Hebrew places adjectives after the noun, whereas English puts adjectives before the noun), or a "suite" jacket, instead of suit jacket. Plus, the American slang is all wrong: we don't say "ain't;" we don't use double negatives routinely; and we pay attention to parallelism in sentences, like keeping a sentence in the same tense throughout! Suggestions for the author - learn about English auxiliary verbs - such as "might" instead of "may." Hire an English proofreader next time, and this won't happen!! All that said, the story was good, but I had to fight to get to the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gritty and Authentic July 24, 2013
By Geoff S
Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoyed this new bok very much - a great effort from a new author. Some minor and humorous editing glitches from the original Hebrew, but like all things Israeli very believable and authentic and with a gritty atmosphere. More from
Kaplan please.

5.0 out of 5 stars A first hand look June 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book deals with a situation that had fascinated me for a long while. In recent years several disappearance cases have made headlines and Kaplan takes the reader into the guts of this confounding situation describing the fragile reality through his characters. The intricate plot leads the reader through a web of intrigue allowing a first hand look at the dilemmas and the actions taken to solve such a mystery...

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT!! July 21, 2013
By Louise
Format:Kindle Edition
I absolutely LOVED this story! The characters are wonderful, the descriptions of places really you there in your mind. I couldn't put the book down, full of action & suspense. I would have liked a little more description of what happened to all the characters afterwards but maybe that's because I felt they were real & didn't want the book to end! Just wonderful!

2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly written generic thriller July 21, 2013
By Ella
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A young American girl disappears without a trace while on a trip to Israel. What follows is a thrilling hunt as her boyfriend and sister desperately search for her and find out that the truth will be much more shocking than they could ever have imagined. Actually I have no idea what they discover as I couldn't finish the novel; the story was alright, with enough plot twists to keep me interested but I couldn't get past the terrible writing. I know Kaplan is not a native English speaker but surely someone at his publishing company could have proof read his book. His consistently mixes up tenses, most often the future and the conditional and often uses a similar sounding but completely wrong word such as 'the man threw his cigarette to the ground and distinguished it with his foot.' Very disappointing.

1.0 out of 5 stars BORING
REally a boring, listless book. And I didn't make it to the end. Too much time is spent on useless details and not enough on what is really happening with these characters.
