4.0 out of 5 stars A good book, April 28, 2005
This review is from: The Disappearance (Laurel Leaf Books) (Paperback)
The Dissaperance by Rosa Guy.

This book is about Imamu Jones who lives in Harlem. He has just been released after being acused of murder and Ann Aimsley who was helping him offered him a chance to come and live at her house as a foster child (his mother is an alcaholic). He accepts. Mr. Aimsley is not so sure about Imamu coming to stay at his house. Things are starting to go all right with Imamu and the Aimsleys when the Aimsley's youngest daugter, Perk, dissapears. Imamu is a prime subject. Imamu knows that he didn't kidnap Perk, so who did?

A thrilling mystery. I was very suprised by the ending.

4.0 out of 5 stars MDVK, May 30, 2006
This review is from: The Disappearance (Laurel Leaf Books) (Paperback)
I enjoyed reading this book. I'm not normally a big reader, but when I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. Unfortunately there were some things that I didn't like all too much about this book, but then again there were some things that I loved about it. I will begin to say that I didn't like how the chapters went from one scene to another with different characters and their situations. I found it a little confusing on what was going on. It took me a page or two to find out where I was on some of these chapters. Eventually I got comfortable with the format. Some things that I really liked about this book was that at the end of each chapter there was something that I was questioning. I wasn't sure what fully happened or the scene wasn't complete. It made me feel as though I had to finish the entire book to answer all my questions. I also liked how there were some situations that were slowly fitting together. While reading you'll pick up some little clues that you can't quite see clearly. Then later in the book there are cement pieces that fit everything together. This really made me attentive. In the end I would say that this was a very good book for those who like mysteries.
