The story gives young listeners a revealing glimpse of celebrity. As Richelle and the Teen Power gang star in a commercial, they meet teenaged superstar Cassandra Cass and become privy to her glittering, and sometimes stressful, life. When she's kidnapped, the gang must outsmart the kidnappers, help Cassandra escape, and look out for themselves as well. Richelle observes, "I hadn't realized that adventure could be boring as well as scary." This realistic story makes kids glad to be ordinary.
