What a wast of time and money!, July 8, 2009
This review is from: Disaster Management and Preparedness (Occupational Safety & Health Guide Series) (Hardcover)
I had to use this book for a criminal justice class I was taking at school. My first complaint is that it was published in 2000. Nothing in the book takes on the multitude of changes that came about as a result of the 9/11 events.
The book is puerile, contrived, and has absolutely no depth of topic. I cannot believe that a University actually chose this book for a 400 level class. The only good thing I can say about the book is that the chapters are short and that it is an easy read. This is due mostly to observations that state the obvious and anyone with an ounce of common sense should be able to deduce it for themselves.
This book is not worth the paper it is printed on, you could get more information from Google or Wikipedia.

A Student Review, October 13, 2007
This review is from: Disaster Management and Preparedness (Occupational Safety & Health Guide Series) (Hardcover)
Having read the book cover to cover, and having Schneid as a professor for the related course itself, I would say that this is a very helpful book in learning about disasters and the different elements necessary for creating a company disaster plan.
Overall, the book is great. The only complaint about the book I have is that it only outlines different ways to write a disaster plan. I learn well by example, and there was no format or layout of a disaster plan within the book itself to reference or view as a "plan in action."
If you are looking for a text to summarize and explain the elements of a disaster plan or are a student debating whether the book is really worth buying for a class, I highly recommend this text.

The book is a big pile of meh.
It took Amazon 6 flippin' weeks to delivery it. Almost a month after the class had already started.
