2.0 out of 5 stars Not much meat here
Comprehensive, yet superficial. I learned a few interesting things, but the book doesn't really contain information on HOW to do anything--it is just ABOUT. Misses the mark.

5.0 out of 5 stars Project approach & comes with a wealth of extra material, July 11, 2001
This review is from: Disaster Recovery Planning: For Computers and Communication Resouces (Paperback)
I like this book because it's a structured introduction to disaster recovery planning. I used this book as one resource when writing a whitepaper on recovery management, and found that the structure of the book and project-driven approach allowed me to identify and clarify key issues. While there is nothing new in this book with respect to disaster recovery planning, the way the subject is presented makes this book valuable.

Among the key strengths of this book that I particularly like are: (1) the ten-step project plan will give anyone who is tasked with developing a disaster recovery plan a clearly defined roadmap, (2) checklists and forms that support each stage of the project plan are included on the accompanying disk, making your job a lot easier (most of them will require extensive tailoring, but the format and key content areas are valuable), and (3) the author drills down into detail in every project stage, which provides even more guidance.

If you're tasked with developing a disaster recovery plan and don't know where to start, or are validating or reviewing existing plans, but are not a disaster recovery expert, this is an excellent resource. It earns 5 stars for making a complex subject understandable, providing a clear plan and for the wealth of forms and checklists that come with it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Out of Date, September 2, 2005
This review is from: Disaster Recovery Planning: For Computers and Communication Resouces (Paperback)
This work was published in 1995, it seemed out of date, and out of touch. The media that came with it was a 3.5" floppy disk.

4.0 out of 5 stars Speak, October 19, 2005
This review is from: Disaster Recovery Planning: For Computers and Communication Resouces (Paperback)
I would recommend this book to all teenagers. The name of the book is "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson.I liked this book, because it talks about the emotions and reactions of situations that would actually happen. This book talks about a likfe of a student that has just satrted Merryweather high-school. For Melinda Sordino school is a nightmare for her since the end of summer, when shocking events led her to call the police who busted a major party. Now she has no friends and gets alot of dirty looks for her ex-friends. THe only friend she has is a girl named Heather, the new girl, who only cares about hanging out with the right people and impressing others. She doesn't even care about Melinda at points, she talks about fitting in with different social groups. So if you wan't to read an interesting award winning book you should read Speak.
