While riding home with Windsong and Breeza, Kate and Erik are startled when someone tries to grab Windsong. Kate is able to elude the would-be thief and make it home safe, but she is frightened. Who would want to steal a scruffy, underfed horse? When Windsong's lead rope is deliberately untied and the horse disappears, Kate becomes convinced her horse must be more valuable than she first believed. Determined to keep Windsong for herself, Kate decides to solve the mystery but at what cost to her family?

This book is my favorite of the whole series. It brings things to a nice close. You find out that Anders really does care about his stepsister, (they don't seem like steps after a while) Kate. He actually cries when he thinks she might be dead! A big deal for Anders! It also promises a relationship, that is more than just friendship, between Erik and Kate. When they're older, that is. For now it just is a sweet friendship. The mystery is awesome too. What I have come to expect from Mrs. Johnson's books.

My name is Holly Joy Tammaru. I'm 11 years old. This is the best book of the series! I really enjoyed reading about Kate and her horses Windsong and Breeza. It is really interesting how Kate discovers the mystery about her two horses. After you read the part about the barnfire you just have to find out if Windsong really died or if she escaped.What really surprised me was how Anders turned out to be so nice afterall. Mrs. Johnson you did a great job on this book!It was so exciting that I couldn't put it down. Too bad this is the last book of the series!

My mom read this book series to me when I was younger (about 10 years ago now) and I recently started reading the series to my sister who is 10 years younger than me. Not long into the series, one of my brothers also started slipping into our room at night to listen to me read. It's been so nice to go through these books over again and guess at what's going to happen with them. One thing I'm looking forward to in this book is to see how the book wraps things up. The 3 of us (me, my brother and my sister) are wondering what we're going to do after this series is done!
