For the home user, this unit will work fine with the creams I've recommended.

I used the Repair Pro to clean Dvd's and Games and it does a great job. I went to fix my game which was scratched and constantly freezing. At first I was disappointed because I could still see the scratch, but when I tried it it worked like new!

When buying a product like this, it's wise not to go into the transaction with great expectations. In my case, this was a risk free trial, having won this item at a games arcade thanks to my considerable skill at spending vast quantities of money to win wonderful prizes such as shot glasses and lop-sided teddy bears.

Howz it work?

1. The machine looks like a CD player (or possibly like one of those cheap rolodex thingies that are made to look like CD players)
2. It comes with one pair of blue topped discs, and a 30ml bottle of liquid for cleaning CDs, DVDs, Game discs and the like.
3. It also comes with one pair of beige topped discs and a 10ml tube of cream for repairing discs.
4. Choose which set of discs you need, press the button to open the lid of the machine, and then insert them in the holes. You'll need to turn each disc until it is securely anchored (rotate it counter-clockwise until it stops)
5. Note that the left side is labeled "Dry" and the right side is labeled "Wet" (It's a bit hard to see if you're not looking for it)
6. Apply the appropriate solution - 4 drops of cleaning liquid or 3 small dollops of repair cream - on to the disc on the "Wet" side
7. Place your disc data side down and close the cover.
8. Plug in the machine (110/120V) and press either the "Clean" button or the "Repair" button on the front of the machine.
9. It will automatically turn itself off when the process is finished. (You won't have any problem knowing when it's done - it makes an awful racket when it's working)

Pros:

1. Dirty and scratched CDs, DVDs, Game discs and the like can be given a new lease on life.
2. Cleaning only takes a minute, and repairing just four minutes.
3.

The "Xinix Disc Repair Pro Cleaning And Repair System" is a machine with a generic design which is sold under several brand names (and colors). They are all essentially identical and use the same repair discs and repair solution. I have 2. The name printed on mine is "Disc Rescuer" and it is dark silver. Another brand is Aleratec 240131 DVD/CD Disc Repair Plus Kit and it is dark blue, black, or brown.

The only repair discs I use are the yellow/green repair discs. I have never used the blue cleaning or red buffer discs. I manually spray lens cleaner and use "soft lens cloths" to first clean any DVD/CD discs I wish to repair. I then use the yellow/green repair discs with the repair solution on this machine. The repair cycle on the machine takes 4 minutes.

Despite what others state here, the machine DOES work. The machine DOES repair light scratches on both DVD's and CD's. Most of the older Netflix DVD's I have rented have numerous scratches on them. Because both Netflix and BlockBuster Online send their DVD's with virtually NO protection, after being sent many times in the mail their DVD's have a heavy haze on them. This haze is the result of crushing from other mail and movement through the USPS system. Friction between the DVD and the Tyvek sleeve creates this haze.

If your player cannot read the DVD, you have a choice of returning it and waiting 48 hours for a replacement (hoping it will work) or repairing it with this machine which takes a total of 7 minutes. This machine WILL remove the haze because it is not a heavy scratch. It will NOT remove heavy scratches, especially heavy scratches which turn with the disk or circumference.

There is no order form included for when I need replacement parts. The unit itself works great. You must make sure the wheels are tightly screwed into place. When repairing a CD be sure to use a generous amount of repair fluid. Overall..I am happy with the unit.

I purchased the XINIX repair pro system and have been very satisfied, with the exception of one major problem. Some of the LSK-301 Repair Kit refills available through online sellers contain the WRONG POLISH!

While these repair kits are not currently available on Amazon.com, I advise contacting the seller FIRST where ever you do find the kits and make sure you are getting the ORIGINAL white-colored, odor-free polish that is packed with the machines. Unfortunately, today I just discovered is that the polish in the refill kits (at least the two I purchased) is NOT the same as the polish that came with the new machine. The original polish works quite well and is pure white in color, the "new" polish is light gray/purple and PUTS SCRATCHES IN THE DISC. I had to run the machine 3 times with the white polish to remove the damage done be the light gray/purple polish. I think it is possible that this may explain complaints sellers may get on the XINIX machine (especially if the buyer received a machine with the JUNK light gray/purple polish that DAMAGES THE CD. Remember: The light gray/purple polish has a slight oily odor and is JUNK.

When using the XINIX repair pro with the white polish I got terrific results. Sometimes disks had to be run 2 or 3 times, and no machine anywhere can repair deep scratches to the data layer, but overall this is a great polish. I'm rating it a one star for now due to the serious problem of the JUNK (similar to automotive polishing compound) light gray/purple polish that is being sold in at least some LSK-301 repair refill kits, and most-likely with some of the brand new XINIX repair pro machines. Don't buy the machine or the refill kits without making absolutely sure you're getting the white polish.

If I find a solution or get an answer from the company about this problem I will update this review.
