Book Description

September 26, 2002
In another dimension, an alien race opens a door within space/time, not knowing just where that door opens to. In Crestport, Maine, strange occurrences begin, culminating in the contact between the two species; contact that is overshadowed by disastrous initial circumstances through a tragic sequence of events. As the two cultures overcome initial suspicions and begin to learn of each other, they discover an ominous third intelligent species, from the very dawn of time, trapped in the netherworld between the two dimensions and bent on escaping. Fast paced and gripping with an ending that will leave one spellbound.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised!, November 5, 2007
This review is from: Disc (Paperback)
I am not a sci-fi fan by any means. In fact I did not choose this book, I won it and started reading it fully expecting not to finish it! I could not put it down! I devoured it in a day! The characters are fantastic and the aliens are portrayed in such a way that I actually began to hope that they existed so that I could meet one! It is a must read and will not be at all what you expected! I can't wait for the sequel!

Ah yes....a sci-fi book that doesn't insult my intelligence. A very satisfying read. Disc is thoughtful in the best sense -- the characters are realistic, the technology is credible, the logic is consistent, and the strong story takes you on a wild ride that is just believable enough until... Well, I don't want to ruin it for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Disc by Stu Neal, June 30, 2003

This review is from: Disc (Paperback)
Disc, as a first novel by Stu Neal, is very much in keeping with the tradition of hard science fiction established by Asimov, Clarke and their like.

Disc approached a particularly challenging subject and artfully leads the reader to the edge of his seat with believability.

Mr. Neal has clearly done research that keeps his tale grounded in reality and yet allows for a smooth transition to the fantastic. This reader never saw the end coming.

This hard science fiction fan will look forward to more works by Mr. Neal ash he hones his craft.
