A Unique Approach to Lifestyle Choice,
By Martha McAfee (Dallas, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Discerning Vocations to Marriage, Celibacy, and Singlehood (Michael Glazier Books) (Paperback)
This book offers a unique perspective on what determines the primary relationships in our lives. The authors turn the common idea that if one is not called to celibacy, then you get married unless you can't find a mate on its head! The book details the "vocational lifestyles" of marriage, singlehood and celibacy and offers practical advice on how to discern which lifestyle a particular individual is called to. The authors' concept of marriage as a calling and there being a separate call to marry a particular person is truly radical. While this is a wonderful book, it is not easy read. The authors use complex sentence structure (paragraph long sentences are not uncommon). But, I found it well worth the time spent reading. Only the difficulty of reading keeps this one from being a 5 star. |
