My ladies' group at church just completed the study "Discerning the Voice of God" by Priscilla Shirer. If you're willing to put forth the effort, this is a thought-provoking, life-changing Bible study! The workbook lessons are short but still challenging - appropriate for the novice or more advanced Bible student. Although the final workbook lesson ends rather abruptly. When the workbook is accompanied by the video teaching, the topic is more dynamic. Priscilla is a woman after God's own heart with a real gift for communication. She is funny, but doesn't pull any punches when it comes to presenting the truth found in the Word of God. I recommend "Discerning the Voice of God"!

We have used this for a women's book study in our church and we have all been blessed by the easy read and yet profound insight into hearing God's voice. Once can always learn new insights and grow in discerning the voice of God and Priscilla provides and excellent tool to help in the growth and stretching to new heights with the Lord.

Discerning the Voice of God by Pricilla Shirer is well written. If you are a new Christian and haven't been in doctrine by your faith tradition this book is for you. It allows you to understand that above all else you need to learn to hear God's voice to you directly. This is a great book to give to a new believer in Christ because for me it reminded me of when I first became a christian and how I totally depended on the Lord and was seeking out to know him. I had not gotten busy with all the stuff that we can get busy with. She is humble and tell stories that an average student could relate so you don't have to be working on your M.Div to understand. This book motivated me so much that I plan to order copies and give to all the ladies who attend my next Bible study. Some people give away their favorite things but giving someone a copy of this book to help them in their walk because if you understand the voice of God all the other messages around you take second stage. If you want "deep theology" go to a seminary..this really took me back to my "first love" with Jesus being the only true voice I need to be most concern with. Loved it!

I read this book after reading Shirer's other book related to hearing from God: He Speaks to Me He Speaks to Me: Preparing to Hear the Voice of God. I would recommend this book over the other in a heartbeat. This book spoke to me from the very first page and touches on a problem many of us have: We believe God speaks, but not to US! This book does not have questions at the end of each chapter as her other book does. However, it has two features that are powerful. The first is a small quote from respected Christians answering "How do you know it's God's voice?" The second is intermittent scriptures that allow you to pause and reflect on God's word. Even though there are no questions - it would be EASY to adapt this for a small group Bible study by focusing on the scriptures and sharing insights. One of the best Christian books I have read on this topic!

This book was recommended to me by one of my friends and it has completely changed my life and the way I've been going about handling the troubles of life and communicating with God. Everytime I open it, it is relevant to what I am looking for. Highly recommended if you feel like God isn't listening of answering.

This book is incredible. I took a course using Blackaby's book on Experiencing God and the Lord used it in such a loving way to draw me closer to Him that I took it twice. This book is just like that. What an amazing Lord we have. I would also recommend Calvary Road, He Chose the Cross, On The Anvil, or anything by Beth Moore.

This is a very good book for people who are interested in experiencing the voice of God. It is well written and gives some nice basic tools to develop discernment.

With all the "spiritual" talk going on these days we truly need to discern what voice(s) we are hearing. Priscilla has written a powerful book on understanding how followers of Jesus Christ can truly hear His voice. This is a much needed book, and a great Bible study. I highly recommend this study for all women church groups. Priscilla definitely listened to the voice of God in His direction for this Bible study. What a gifted woman and teacher. She truly made the study relative to today. The ladies of our church were all blown away by the message God gave to Priscilla to share with women everywhere.

This is a great book, but I was actually needing the workbook. You really couldn't tell which one it was. Still love the book!!!
