Very convenient disc organizer,

Everyone should have several of these. These organizers are awesome. They have numbered slots and a pop out tray for you to list your collection and easily access the one you want. Just press in the tab, bring it to the slot, press the button, and it'll pull out the disc you want for you.
Discgear also have online organization software for you to keep track of all your collections and move discs between them. It lets you print out title sheets, disc labels, etc... Very handy and convenient. My one minor qualm with these is that they're pretty sturdy, but I'd recommend against transporting the discs in them. The discs would probably get scratched up a bit. So if you're looking for a portable organizer, this probably isn't for you. If you don't want to lug your discs around, this is probably the best you can get.

A very nice way to store and organize DVDs. There is some set-up time required - you must create a list of all the movies to be stored. But once that's done, it is extremely convenient and easy to find a movie when you need it. I found the online organization program to be not be that great and used a Excel spreadsheet that works much better.
The old price of 50 dollars was too high I think though. At the current price, I think this is an excellent investment if you have a lot of DVDs and are sick space-taking binders. Also, not really ideal for transportation. I wouldn't take this on a trip. Instead I use a small case for what DVDs I want to take. I think I'm going to buy another one.

This is such a space saver. I now own 3 of them but this is the best shape (square) so that you can stack them.

This is a great cd or dvd organizer if it works. I own 4 of them. This one arrived defective. I contacted the seller who asked me to send it to the company. Of course I have to pay another un-reimbursable shipping fee. I called the company who said they will repair it but I have to pay a third shipping to send it back to me. No hope for any refund. So the seller and the company wanted their defective product to become my problem. My advise to Amazon is to do away with these kind of sellers as by time their image will be tarnished.

Great product! I can't imagine packing disks into a smaller space than this. Now I have a ton of empty jewel cases.
The only catch is that you have to either write a label on the disk (i never do that, because it reduces the disk's life... BAD for archiving), or be very careful to make a separate record of what location you put each disk in (eg. location "1" is "photos", etc.). Also, some people might find it inconvenient that you HAVE to use the "lid selector" to pick out a disk (you cannot just pull out a disk with your fingers, they are too close together to get a grip; So, every time you want to get out a disk, you have to start by closing the lid) I think it holds the disks quite securely. My one minor concern is that there is a quarter-inch slot opening across the rear of the whole box (at the hinges). I wasn't expecting the thing to be watertight, but I worry about bugs or stuff getting in through there. It looks very nice and it's very cool to watch it open. I will probably be getting several more.

I have purchased a few of those, I love them, there compact, saves lot of storage room, gives you the ability to do your own index. It has helped me organize my disc and save space. Its stackable looks good so far so good.
The only set back on this item is you don't want to move it around allot, its not made for travel, but I've come up with a little solution. Keep the box it came in. I do archival disc and have to transport the case a few miles away. If I but it back in the orginal box I can secure it. Hopefully the company will come out with maybe a travel case of sorts so you can transport, but till then this works.

I received by disc storage case and initially thought that it was attractive and relatively compact for its capacity. Unfortunately the problems began immediately. The two metal trim pieces below the selection level fell off as I turned the case over to remove the packaging. The glue failed and both pieces clattered to the carpet. I removed the case from packaging, got out the super glue and reattached. This was annoying but not the end of the world. Next I opened the drawer which contains the index or disk location card. It is opened by pushing the drawer in slightly which releases the catch and the drawer slides out. Closing it SHOULD cause the latch to re-engage, only it doesn't. The drawer will not stay closed at all. Perhaps this is just an old item. Perhaps I got a bat sample. I would stay away unless you can physically examine the case the ensure it is in good working order/condition before purchasing this one.

During my spring cleaning, I wanted to get rid of all the DVD cases. The discgear is a great space saver and organizer! I owned one previously, but I gave it to my six-year old son for his movies. It's so easy he can use it (and loves to), and his movies are more protected. I ordered three because I have lots of movies and a few TV series collections. If you go to the discgear website, you can enter in the titles of your discs, print off a sheet for the sleeve, cut it, and have a neat title page. It's so easy to use. It saves as many unit labels as you want to create, so as my collections have grown, I've been able to go back and edit my forms. I will be purchasing more of these, and the cases went out with the trash.

Best storage for discs of any kind,

We have bought many Discgear storage containers, in this configuration and others as well. They are the best solution for storage of discs. We love the mechanism that retrieves the disc and then we just pluck the disc out,use it, and then roll it back in when done.
The only disappointment I had when these arrived was the color. They are not the color as pictured, which would have matched the ones we already have. This color is a deep, dark espresso brown--nearly black. In fact, when I first opened the box, I thought the wrong color had been sent. I don't care for the color but I know it won't matter to some friends and family, so these will be gifts. We have often given Discgear storage as gifts and everyone has loved them. Also, separate storage cases can be bought for the DVD and CD artwork, but we have also bought regular plastic sleeves for pages from office supply stores and put them in three ring notebooks. We also have the storage cases by Discgear, which came as a set with different Discgear storage boxes we have, but we had to carefully fold them to fit (very time consuming!) and the office supply plastic sleeves are so much easier, plus the children can make their own disc artwork for the family photo discs. I recommend these storage boxes for any discs and think you'll be very happy with them.

We used to have a CD selector with this function (slide the button, release, lift) and I wanted one again. I was tired of the shelving being dominated by game and movie cases so I ordered two of these to wrangle the clutter. It's compressed everything wonderfully. I love having more space and not having DVD cases getting stacked up everywhere and things being out of their cases or in the wrong cases, and things like that. They're also much more attractive and modern looking than the old, grey, ugly plastic thing we used to have so I don't mind leaving them visibly on the entertainment center which makes putting things away when we're done that much easier.
Initially I was apprehensive of all of the 'auto' features. I didn't want something fancy and I didn't like that it had a tray that slid out at the push of a button. The more bells and whistles in it, the more there is to break prematurely, I felt. I wanted something simple and manual. While I would still probably prefer a completely manual selector, the mechanisms seem pretty secure and they're not battery operated or reliant on complicated latches or anything like that. It's actually a fairly simple system that just makes it look all fancy and automated. Overall, I'm completely pleased with my investment and feel fairly confident that the automated features will last, even with much use. |
