About the Author
Mike Yaconelli is the author of bestselling books Dangerous Wonder and Messy Spirituality. He was the senior editor for the Wittenburg Door (1971-1996), a satirical religious magazine noted for its irreverent humor, in-depth interviews, and commitment to reforming the evangelical church. He was the cofounder of Youth Specialties, an international organization devoted to equipping youth workers through training and resources. Mike was a prophetic voice in the church-at-large and was a devoted husband and father until his death in 2003. I know that "post-modern" thought is rather open ended-at least according to cultural commentators. This curriculum reflects this by giving student plenty of opportunity to reflect and draw conclusions. There are also some great, creative group activities. My criticism is that the point of each lesson is not always clear. The facilitator needs to take initiative to choose and pursue a direction and teach to that point. It seems to favor experience over theological content/biblical principles.

Just finished using this curriculum at our boys & girls teen camp. I found it to be simple to use, and it really drove home the question "what does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus? I believe the teens were impacted as well as my staff and even myself. Youth Specialties at their website has a free download of this curriculum for a summer camp setting, I used them both in conjunction. It is pricey and you get only six student journals which were good but not enough if you have students passed the number of 6.
