5.0 out of 5 stars Won't Get Fooled Again August 10, 2005
Format:Audio CD
Some reviews I have read of this album speak of Disciple's change in sound as if it were intended as a direct insult to them and God. Hmm...let's investigate. Having seen Disciple in concert three times (most lately about a month before the release of this CD) I can reassure all the skeptics that they have changed none and neither has their message. Considering that Kevin Young (lead vocals) stops the band in the middle of "Wait" (track six on "Back Again") with a Bible in hand to tell the audience about God and the necessity of His love and salvation I assure they have not hedged a bit on their message. As for those of you who burst out crying when you heard a piano (GASP!) on the first track of this album are behaving quite the same way Bob Dylan "fans" did when he switched from a solo acoustic format to a band format-even to being labled "Judas" by so-called fans (try the 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert for evidence). I would say that just because Disciple doesn't play straight ahead metal any more doesn't speak ill of them- the world has enough metal and not enough good serious Christian musicians whose only mission is to glorify God, not themselves. The band has alway been clear about this (for you "By God" fans try the track "Not Rock Stars" from that album). Make no mistake, Disciple's message hasn't changed and neither has the band, just the knobs on their guitar amps.

This great album from Disciple is chock-full of great hard rock with straightforward lyrics taken straight from the Bible. There is plenty of music about real life that anyone and everyone can relate to, and a lot of worshipful stuff on here as well.

The DVD and four additional songs on this version of the album are well worth picking up. "Things Left Unsaid" is probably the highlight of the four new songs. It is just a beautiful rock ballad about the love between someone and someone close to them who is dying. "Pain" is a great, hard rock song about enduring through the trials and pain of life. The other two songs are a very welcome addition to the album, too. The DVD is great as well..... as it has some great behind the scenes interviews with the guys during one day of their lives while they are touring.

Now, if you haven't heard the 14 songs from the original self-titled album, it is just wonderful. "The Wait is Over," "Into Black," and "Rise Up" were all #1 hits on the Christian rock charts and I personally love all 3 of them. Pretty much every song on the rest of the CD is just as fantastic, as well. Some of my personal favorites from the album are "Stripped Away", "Worth It All", "Falling Over," "Backstabber," and "Tribute" (the hidden 14th track).

If you like Christian music with a great message and good hard rock, Check this album out! It is one of my favorites that I own! Disciple rocks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best I have heard in a while for Xn music. August 10, 2005
Format:Audio CD
Wow. Finaly, not only do we have here, in Disciple's self titled release, excellent Xn subject matter, but also the artistry and musical talent to back it up. Makes quite an impressive package when put together. Vocals and rifs astound, every track a winner (no filler), easy to get into, on the first listen, from start to finish. It may be simple music for some, but you know were you are going and you will enjoy the ride. Well worth the $.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT LIsten to the guy below.... August 2, 2005

Disciple may be hardcore Christian, but they are still Christian. If you actually bought the CD, you'd realize that in the first song, each verse is taken from the Holy Bible. No, they are not shying away from saying Jesus or God, they just want to reach out to a larger crowd. Just think about Switchfoot. I think Disciple's career has taken a turn for the best. Buy this CD and see what I mean. You won't be disappointed.

Format:MP3 Music
I've been listening to heavy metal music since I was 15 years old when my mom died heart attack. Music is what helped me get me thru all that crap in my earlier years. But the same bands, that I grew up with such as Metallica, Korn, to name a few don't do it for me like they used too. Their music in a way in my opinion, has gone down hill and not has hard, heavy rock guitar riffs with the anger I'm looking for. Just to get my frustrations out about life job, school or your boyfriend cheating on you or whatever your going thru in your life at that time. I realize I do need God in my life and IF a person doesn't have God in their life, they will always be searching to fill that void in their life with drugs, alcohol, etc. Today (11-28-11) was my day off from work and I was searching on Amazon and listening to all the Christian bands out their and came across "Disciple" this cd. I must admit, it is the best cd I've heard in a long time and that's comparing it to the Metallica band, who in my opinion, at one time back in the 80's used to be great with their Justice for All album. But With Disciple after listening to it, its beats Metallica!! With the drums, guitar riffs and the hard heavy metal sounding! I'm definitely a Fan Forever now!!!!
I'm getting rid of all my Metallica cd's that are just collecting dust anyway and replacing them with Disciple cd's and other heavy Christian Rock bands such as "Skillet" too. God is in charge of my life not me!! I love you guys disciple keep up the Great work!!!
