Wu Tang deserve a greatest hits album, but I probably would have enjoyed it more if it had been a compilation of all their greatest studio hits. I'm giving this album 3 stars because the selection of songs is dope: not only are the standard Wu bangers on there but you also have a couple of straight up solo hits such as Ghostface's "Ghost Deini" and ODB's "Shim Shimmy Ya"...

It is impossible to convey in a review what the experience of this show was and, for those in attendance, still is. Let me paint the picture: It was a cold night, but inside the venue, it was hot and sticky as Atlanta in the Summer. This was the first ever Rock the Bells shows and the line up promised a reunion of the entire Wu-Tang for the first time in 10 years. The place was filled to capacity, standing room only almost as big as a football field. I was up front and it felt like I was at a metal show the way the crowd was swaying. Supernatural did his thing, Nu-Mark and Chali Tuna handled theirs, Eyedea, with a broken arm, & Abilities ripped it , Sage Francis basically got booed off the stage, Dilated took a long time to get to their hit song and Redman nearly caused a fire with his performance. Then the wait began. Over an hour we stood their with background music, swaying like ripples in an ocean. Sway took the stage, attempting to quell the crowds doubts about the Wu even showing up. For a half an hour, poor Sway stood in front of the lions. People started shouting, " F--k Sway, f--k MTV." Sway snapped and disappeared. Then he came back and finally announced who we all came to see. The tail end of his address can be heard at the beginning of the disc. The lights shut out and there they stood: the Rza, the Gza, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah and the Method Man. Whomever complained about these guys finishing each other's lines is a toy. You could see the mutual respect and admiration in the eyes of these cats as they looked at each other. It wasn't some anonymous Wu side-project cat finishing someone's line, it was Meth, it was Ghostface, it was all of them. The DVD and CD are consolation prizes for those of you who could not be there, be grateful they were released. You know these songs, you already own them. But I was there, in a sea of heads who knew all the words like me, who had been down since '92 when kids made fun of me in 6th grade because I listened to what they thought was Chinese rap. If you're thinking of getting this as an introduction or a "greatest hits", don't get it. This is for the heads that know the Wu-Tang Clan and it was the last time, and for many the only time, for anyone to experience them as a whole.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wu-Tang Clan Live In Your Hands!!!, October 3, 2004
This review is from: Disciples of the 36 Chambers (Audio CD)
Feel the emotion of a live Wu-Tang Clan show. This compilation not only has many hits of the Wu saga, but also contains an awsome sound quality that will make any Hip-Hop fan vibrate.
TRUST ME, YOU WILL FEEL THIS ONE!!!
This is unique, not an LP, not a best of, not a mix-tape; it is a live concert. Don't sleep on this one. Wu is definitely the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is what we've been waiting for!!!!, September 28, 2004
This review is from: Disciples of the 36 Chambers (Audio CD)
First off to the Wu-tang fans,GO GET THIS!!!
If you have never been to Wu show, then get it.
Wu-tang has been there since the begining and they aren't leaving either. The cd opens up the classic " Bring the ruckus", you can feel the crowd come alive and the clan reunite like they had never stopped performing together. Another stand out track is "Triumph" the songs lives forever because of the fact the whole clans gets to shine on the infamous beats of the RZA.

All I can say is get it, because it could be a very long time before we hear these great Mc's reunite and shine like the stars they were and always will be.

This review is from: Disciples of the 36 Chambers (Audio CD)
I was at this concert, and this cd represents everything it was about. If you love wu tang and the rawness it represents, this cd is for you, they take their classic songs and put a new twist on em.

3.0 out of 5 stars For Straight Wu Heads Only, October 19, 2004

Wu Tang deserve a greatest hits album, but I probably would have enjoyed it more if it had been a compilation of all their greatest studio hits. I'm giving this album 3 stars because the selection of songs is dope: not only are the standard Wu bangers on there but you also have a couple of straight up solo hits such as Ghostface's "Ghost Deini" and ODB's "Shim Shimmy Ya". I also feel that Wu Tang will always be one of the best live performances money can buy, which is why I suppose a live album is acceptable because of how distiguished they are as a live MCs.

Yet while the W has churned out some of the best in-studio and on-stage careers this industry will ever know, not to mention all the solo success that it has produced, I don't know if I'm feeling this live album like I want to. I have mixed feelings about live albums: the sound is poor, the screaming crowd singing along to the lyrics bothers me, and when it comes down to it all you're hearing is a bunch of MCs rhyming over one another and competing with the blairing sound of the delirious fans - it's not a pleasant listening experience. Don't get me wrong - if I was there in the crowd watching them up on stage I'd be telling you a different story, but when I'm in my living room or on the bus with my earphones the "live experience" isn't what I need. In the studio, everything is crisp and clear and you can fully appreciate the work that went into the song.

So if you're like me and you're not a huge fan of live albums then I suggest you listen to this before you buy it. If you are a true Wu head then theoretically you ought to own this because whether I think it's a weak album or not I believe that any self-respecting fan of Wu Tang Clan needs this in their collection. You will find all the hits on this album, from "Shame On A Ni**a" to "Triumph" to, my favorite, "C.R.E.A.M." There are even a couple of tracks from their recent work, such as "Gravel Pit".

So like I said, if you're unsure about live albums be wary before you dig into your pocket. If you're new to the W don't even think about buying this album and go buy The 36 Chambers before I give you a wedgy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wu Fans Unite!!!, October 12, 2004
This review is from: Disciples of the 36 Chambers (Audio CD)
Anyone, and I mean anyone who is a Wu Tang fan NEEDS to get this album. Just the fact that it's got everyone, including ODB, is enough to get it. But, this album, from the second I popped it in my CD player, had my head bobbin!!! Some might say, "I already got all these songs", that was me at first, but once I got it, though, I understood why I had to have it. I couldn't even tell you which song I liked best, they're all bangin', like you'd expect from the Wu. The only thing I didn't like, was that I couldn't have been there at the concert, it woulda been off the hook, more than that even. I would give this album 10 stars if I could. Like I said in the beginning, all hip hop heads NEED to get this album

3.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 Stars Actually, October 27, 2004
This review is from: Disciples of the 36 Chambers (Audio CD)
The Wu has been doin it for over a decade. They have their problems like any family but when they all hooked up in California for a concert with all nine original members it was on. This album is a good mix of everything the clan has done solo and group wise, the only problem is that when it comes to group tracks they only do one or two verses of them instead of performing the whole song. This is disappointing to anyone who knows classic lines from all the members on different tracks. I think the DVD of this show would be better but it still is a good live album from possibly the most influential group in hip-hop history.

4.0 out of 5 stars THE "WU" IS BACK!!!!, October 22, 2004
This review is from: Disciples of the 36 Chambers (Audio CD)
let me start by saying one thing, i might sound a bit byassed in dis reveiw cuz i am a true blue wu fan, but, it dont matter!! if you have heard cypress hill "live at the fillmore" than i can guess what your saying!! i bet your saying " oh, its just another live album" BUT YOUR WRONG!!!! you havent HEARD a live album untill youve heard this!!! you can put this cd into your sterio, and, you will find yourself nodding along to all 27 tracks without even noticing!! ITS ASIF YOU ARE IN THE CROWD SHOWING YOUR APPRECIASION FOR THE WU!!!!every single track is amazing, the only downside being they dont "sing" (if you'll excuse the phrase) every song all the way through.
now, i'm sure for most people the mension of a new wu tang album was good news, but, it is'nt a new ALBUM is it? i was a bit dissapointed when i found out it was a...well...."compilation" if thats the word. but, never fear!!! the new official album is out in december (fingers crossed) but all in all, i cant give it 5 stars purly because there is nothing new on the album!!! but, apart for that get this cd!!! you will find yourself sat in your room shouting out WU TANG, WU TANG,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
