5.0 out of 5 stars Great Turn Based Strategy for Beginners
Wow! I am new to this genre on the PC, and I have been continually surprised with how much time these turn based strategy games are taking from me! If you enjoy strategically planning your next move without the frantic pace of an RTS, then this is the type of game for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just Get HOMM instead.
Very simplistic compared to HOMM. Been playing strategy games for a long time and I don't see the allure of this one.

This game in particular is good for newcomers to the genre. It is simple enough to grasp, but it has plenty of depth and an absurd amount of playtime to boot. I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of console strategy rpg's or turn based gaming in general.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very strange cut scenes and very easy gameplay make it good for begginers or people who play on easy..., June 19, 2010

first, if your new to strategy and are looking to buy this and have windows 98 or 95 or Me, please get yourself Disciples: Sacred Lands: classic old looking stuff.

anyway, I would like to say is that this totally is a steal from HOMM, but is totally good for those who want to get into TBS games and really want a game to start with.

Cut scenes are, right off the bat, downright horrible: unless you like an old medium from medieval times telling you what went down several hundreds of eons ago, in a very monotonous, but deep-commanding voice.

now to game play: TBS, giant board game of chess with several complications and exceptions. please note: if you like playing RTS or something that involves real time like FPS, please, don't buy!!! its TBS all the way through, where you plan your moves, and you can pause the game all you want.

the story is pretty awesome, and the whole over lying arch of the story would be really cool to replicate on a totally war game, even though it would only have 5 factions with neutral factions to help players creep, but anyway.

I give this game 5/5 for easy interface, but a couple were knocked off due to lack of complexity, even though it is way better than playing chess (in some ways)

Good graphics and decent game play. All this combined with the fact that you can get it cheap online makes an excellent buy for turn-based strategy fans. Although I must admit I have not played it very much, otherwise it might have received a better rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Disciples II Gold. Nice map editor., October 10, 2008

Strategy based game. Very good map editor with which you can even modify the unit. You can have healer with 90 armor, very cheap.=)

Meanwhile, monster leader can also equip artifacts, banner, and boot with the map editor. If you want to screw a very cheap map, the map editor is of great help because you can always be cheaper.

This game was basically a dud. I thought it would a fun variant of Heroes of Might and Magic III, but it wasn't. Instead it just sucked horribly. Definitly NOT recommended!
