not always extended versions as it says...,
By
This review is from: Disco Nights 1: Divas of Dance (Audio CD)
Disco Nights is a pretty good series, but it always promises Extended Club Play Versions on front, and that's not always the case. You sometimes get 7" versions--and sometimes they even EDIT the 12" versions, which is a shame, because there are a good number of long versions on each volume. This volume gives you:
1. Shame (6:35) 2. Heaven Knows (5:58) (This incredible extended version is actually an edit of the even longer version available on Disco Nights: DJ Pix!!!) 3. I Will Survive (6:31) (edit of the 12" version) 4. I Love the Nightlife (5:40) 5. If I Can't Have You (4:04) (a poorly made "extended" version) 6. I Need A Man (4:59) (not the 12" version!!!) 7. Ring My Bell (6:17) (edit of the 12") 8. Got to Be Real (5:09) 9. turn the beat around (5:34) 10. Fame (5:16) 11.What Cha Gonna Do With My Lovin (4:42) 12. Last Dance (5:51) (edit of the 12")

As a former dance club dj from this era I'm usually disappointed with the quality of most disco collections offered. This cd and the others in the DISCO NIGHTS collection has the extended versions played by most of the clubs. Sound quality is exceptional; approaching vinyl on a high quality system. Whether you're looking for disco music to take you back to the great, up-beat music of that time or just to have great dance music for your party, this is the collection to buy.

One of This Series' Best!,

Great collection of songs from some of disco's leading ladies. Some tracks like Ring My Bell and I Will Survive are extended but still editted. But here's a chance to own Heaven Knows in a rare, extended mix never before commercially available. Also, If I Can't Have You clocks in over 4 min from its original album mix of 2:55. Perhaps this is a dj promo only versionfrom RSO. It was a welcome coup, since I collect long versions of Billboard #1s. And finally, Shame--it never sounds tired--is here in all its original glory...Awesome!

SUPERB COLLECTION,
By
This review is from: Disco Nights 1: Divas of Dance (Audio CD)
Dance music had so much more personality in the 1970s, and good tunes too! Every track here is a gem, and my favourites include I Will Survive (a real anthem), I Love The Nightlife (whatever happened to Alicia?), If I Can't Have You (from Saturday Night Fever), I Need A Man (Grace at her robotic, disembodied best), Ring My Bell (which brought the drum machine into a new era) and Got To Be Real (really passionate vocal). As for Donna Summer, I would have chosen I Feel Love or Fairytale High rather than these two competent but atypical tracks. These minor gripes aside, this is a great selection of the best of 70s disco.

Ring my bell, From the master tape?,
By
This review is from: Disco Nights 1: Divas of Dance (Audio CD)
Although I enjoy this collection (I own almost all the titles of it) I must comment that the quality on the "Ring my bell" song (on this volume) is not good enough, you can clearly ear the "typical" noise of the not-so-well maintained vinyl from which this song was recorded, If you're like me, trying to convert your vinyl collection to CD (from the master tapes) and looking for this Anita Ward's hit song look to other titles (on this site) than can give you the "real" one in its full 8:11 min. extended verson, other than this, it's a good title and given its low price I think it's worth the try,

THE DISCO NIGHT COLLECTION WHICH IS MADE UP OF 10 DIFFERENT CD'S IS A DISCO FANS DREAM. THIS COLLECTION FROM REBOUND RECORDS IS VERY HIGH QUALITY WITH NO PHONY ARTIST. THESE ARE THE REAL ARTIST PERFORMING THE BEST AND MOST POPULAR SONGS OF THAT ERA. AT LESS THAN $7.00 THESE DISC'S ARE A STEAL. VOLUME 4 IS MY FAVORITE BECAUSE IT HAS THE CLUB DANCE VERSIONS AND IS GREAT FOR A PARTY.JOHN KEITH DALLAS, TEXAS

5 PLUS******STARS! SO MANY GREAT CUTS!,
By
This review is from: Disco Nights 1: Divas of Dance (Audio CD)
I agree with another reviewer that this is probably the creme-de-la-creme of this series. Contains killer dance cuts like Evelyn "Champagne" King's "Shame," one of the absolute hottest 70's dance tracks, if not the all-time greatest. Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive," also ranks as one of the very best, and is incredibly moving. Vicky-Sue Robinson's original "Turn The Beat Around," is also one of the all-time high points of 70's dance music. And, great dance classics like Donna Summer's "Last Dance," Alicia Bridges' "I Love The Night Life (Disco Round)," and Anita Ward's "Ring My Bell," are included here, also in their full-length glory. What fun! The remaining tracks are just fine, with absolutely no clunkers. GRAB THIS ONE!

Dance Dance Dance the whole time! Great CD!,

Personally, I feel that this is the best of the Disco Night collection. The best disco artists are on this CD with Donna Summer singing 2 songs. A great start for any disco beginner. You can't help but toe tap through the entire album. The CD appropriately ends with Donna Summer singing "Last Dance." brings back memories of those last days of disco, eh? Closin' out the place! Everyone will wonder what you are singing and dancing to in the car when you listen to this CD. A wonderful collection of songs from disco's greatest Divas!

I am a Music fanatic. I really don't care if some people consider Disco music to be a "Non-musical" style.
Hey, it is always really fun to remind all those "Saturday Night Fever" and "Thanks God It's Friday" times!! A lot of good Disco Divas hits are included in this CD. The sound quality is not the best, but if you just turn up the volume and start dancing, this album will work for you!

Great music, low quality recordings,

As a DJ of 20 years I was happy to find such a great quantity of extended mixes on one disc. Unfortunately the copy I purchased seemed lacking in sound quality to the point that I could not use it in a professional setting. Although for personal use what a great collection
