5.0 out of 5 stars some surprises on this volume
While this volume lacks a large number of 12" versions as promised, it has a couple of goodies. for starters, Somebody's Watching Me is mislabeled on the case as being the 3:57 radio verion. It's not. It's the full 4:58 12" version!!! Plus, you also get the radio remix of Michael Sembello's Maniac, which sounds very different from both the Flashdance soundtrack version...

3.0 out of 5 stars Dance Floor Hits Disco Nights Vol. 8
The cover says, "Extended long play club versions!", but only 5 out of 12 songs are longer than 5 minutes. I've heard the album version of "Makin' It" (the reason why I bought this compilation) and this ain't it. The long version is at least 5 minutes and this is 3:08. This version of "Bridge over Troubled Water" is only 3:18, but the mix...

Plus, you also get the radio remix of Michael Sembello's Maniac, which sounds very different from both the Flashdance soundtrack version and the original 12" mix by Jellybean (although I believe this mix is by Jellybean also). Track times are:

1. Somebody's Watching Me (4:58)
2. Maniac (4:13) (7" remix)
3 Makin It (3:08) (7")
4. San Francisco (5:27)
5. Brazil (5:12)
6. Bridge Over Troubled Water (3:18) (7")
7. Can't Get Enough of You Love Baby (4:31) (7")
8. Hot Stuff (6:46)
9. Thank God It's Friday (4:32) (7")
10. Take Me Home (3:26) (7")
11. She Works Hard for the Money (5:18) (album length, not 12" extended version)
12. ain't that enough for you (5:55)

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD PERIOD PIECE, December 27, 2000
This review is from: Disco Nights 8: Dance Floor (Audio CD)
Maniac, Makin' It, San Francisco, Brazil, Can't Get Enough ..., Hot Stuff and She Works Hard ... were huge pop hits in the late 70s and early 80s, whilst Linda Clifford's version of the Simon & Garfunkel classic was an underground club hit and considered something of an outrage by musical snobs way back then. Thank God Its Friday was the theme song from the movie. So this compilation veers more to the pop side of disco but is very enjoyable and an excellent reminder of those good times.

The tracks "Brazil, She Works Hard For The Money, Ain't That Enough for You and Hot Stuff are surprising. Hot Stuff is the 12" version. I was expecting that "Makin' It-by David Naughton would be longer but it's not. Hopefully, a longer version of this can be found in future releases.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep on dancing, February 5, 2009
Dance Floor Hits is forty-seven minutes and thirty-eight seconds and was released on April 16, 1995. This is Volume 8 in the Disco Nights series. On it are two songs by Donna Summer. Also the cassette version only has ten songs while the CD version has twelve songs. All of the songs are original recordings. Dance Floor Hits has some of the best songs on it from that era. Disco Nights, Volume 8: Dance Floor Hits gets an AAA+++.
